Almost 50 years ago, SRI created one of the first anti-malarial treatments, and progress continues to be made against the life-threatening disease that still affects hundreds of thousands of people per year. Now, SRI researchers are developing a better and more effective treatment option, particularly for people in low-income and rural regions. Learn more: https://bit.ly/460htz2

David Keller leads a group at SRI's Center for Advanced Imaging that strives to advance our knowledge of space and deliver early warnings from satellites monitoring the sun, weather, planets, and stars. Keller and his team build custom sensor imagers that monitor the weather throughout the day and night, earth-orbiting satellites that look for coronal mass ejections from the sun, sensors that explore planets and the solar system to determine how stars evolve, and more. Equipped with an imager from SRI, the GOES-U, a satellite from NASA - National Aeronautics and Space Administration and NOAA: National Oceanic & Atmospheric Administration, has successfully launched this week. The satellite will provide continuous, real-time coverage of weather and hazardous environmental conditions and help forecasters predict space weather near Earth that can interfere with satellite electronics, GPS, and radio communications. Join us in remembering the legacy of Lynn Conway, an innovator in computing chip design. Conway's groundbreaking contributions to chip design and her courage in embracing her gender transition have left an incredible mark on both technology and humanity. Conway received an IEEE Computer Pioneer Award for her “foundational contributions” in supercomputing. While at PARC, Conway developed new ways to design computer chips, including a way to pack millions of circuits onto a microchip, known as very large-scale integrated design (VLSI).
