Tenet Heroes is an annual recognition program which celebrates individuals who make a meaningful impact within their communities and go above and beyond their daily responsibilities. Last month St. Mary’s Medical Center celebrated Gina Leitheuser, our Tenet Hero Nominee. Gina truly embodies the mission of our hospital. As a wound care nurse, Gina connects with her patients and develops meaningful relationships with them and their families, working by their side during extremely difficult moments in their journey. Because wounds are often chronic, they require close monitoring for weeks and months on end to ensure they heal appropriately. This provides nurses like Gina with the unique experience of witnessing their patients’ progress over time. She enjoys helping her patients transform their lives. Our Would Care team, hospital leadership and Gina’s family including her twins who were born at St. Mary’s, joined her to recognize the impact she has on our hospital, our patients and the community.
