Building oyster sanctuaries. Keeping our waters and marine life healthy is a top priority for us. We gladly assisted the North Carolina Coastal Federation with the formation of an oyster sanctuary off of the North Carolina coast. By dropping granite into a section of the Pamlico Sound, oyster larvae are able to settle, grow, and thrive in a safe environment. Stevens Towing Company has been proud to be a part of the RV Savannah mid-life refit project. Total team effort with all the different partners involved.
Owned and operated by the Skidaway Institute of Oceanography, University of Georgia, research vessel RV Savannah is currently in the final stages of her mid-life refit. C-Job provided support and technical expertise on the project from start to finish, and C-Job Houston Director of Engineering Jennifer Ryan delved into everything that went down during that time! Take a look at what she had to say in the article we just published: https://lnkd.in/ejNh6RQc #maritime #navalarchitecture #cjobnavalarchitects #engineering #researchvessel #refit #retrofit

Come fly with us high above the "Susan G" Showing off the latest powerhouse added to our Stevens Towing Company shipyard: the giant Marine Travelift 820C Mobile Boat Hoist, affectionately known as “Susan G.” This impressive machinery standing 70 feet high by 87 feet wide isn't just beautiful to look at; it's a game-changer for marine services across the Southeastern United States. It is the largest marine travelift in South Carolina. And it is entirely American-made. 🔍 Key Features: • Capacity: Susan G can handle vessels up to 820 metric tons (1,804,000 lbs.), effectively alleviating the pressure on local dry dock schedules. • Technology: Equipped with all-wheel electronic steering and hydraulic sling adjustment, it offers unparalleled maneuverability and versatility. • Safety Enhancements: Features an advanced LED light package for optimal safety during low-light conditions or adverse weather. 🏗️ Operational Excellence: • The strategic design places the engine compartment and operator’s station atop the lower side beam, allowing for forklift access underneath, facilitating easier vessel blocking while protecting vital components from storm tidal surges. 🌊 Maximized Yard Capability: • With the addition of Susan G, our facility boasts the capability to haul out barges up to 60 feet wide, positioning Stevens Towing Company as one of the few shipyards in the U.S. with this specialized capacity. Keeping our Community Safe. In our quarterly safety response training with the St. Paul’s Fire District, we noticed an opportunity to take rescue training to the next level – especially when it comes to people entrapped in a confined space such as a trench in the ground or a small containment area in a vessel. Stevens Towing sponsored $17,000 of new specialized rescue equipment allowing the Fire District to quickly hoist people vertically to safety. This local first responder rescue ability in southern Charleston County will not only benefit commercial operations, but also the greater community, especially residents in need of rescue. We pray we never have to call for help in a real emergency, but if we do, we have peace of mind knowing the St. Paul’s Fire District is responding, safeguarding our lives and our communities. #CommunitySupport #FireDepartment #SafetyFirst #LocalHeroes #EmergencyResponse #LifeSavingEquipment

Stevens Towing Company and the Charleston Heavy Lift "Ocean Ranger" were put to the test when ZIM lines needed to discharge two shipments of heavy press components that were too large for the port container cranes to handle. Our team expertly discharged the oversized items to a deck barge and transported them across the harbor with precision. Discharging a total of 369 MT between two trips, the pieces are stored safely until final delivery to the Hyundai EV plant in Georgia by Larkin Express logistics. Thank you to ZIM Integrated Shipping Services and Larkin Express Logistics for trusting the Stevens Towing team with these critical projects! #Maritime #Shipyard #deckandbarge #cargoship #projectcargo #charlestonsc #heavylift

Supporting local projects, one tow at a time! Our Island Fox tug recently handled the task of towing the Dredge Wilco and 1500 feet of pipeline with two dredge tender boats from Figure Eight Island Bridge to just north of Wilmington in Smith Creek, NC. Stevens Towing Company is always happy to jump in and help support local dredging companies to ensure their equipment gets where it needs to go for the next big project. #maritime #charlestonsc #tugandbarge #dredging

Mission accomplished ✅ Stevens Towing Company took charge of hauling this 135’ training vessel using our 820MT travel lift. After being blocked in the North Yard, the vessel was handed over to our shipyard for scheduled repairs, a process spanning approximately 60 days. The shipyard executed a comprehensive overhaul, addressing everything from running gear to exterior coating, all in line with ABS regulations. This initiative not only showcased our dedication to maritime excellence but also contributed to Cape Fear Community College’s Marine Technology curriculum. The R/V (Research Vessel) Cape Hatteras serves as the ocean training vessel for future marine technicians and offers valuable, hands-on learning experiences for students. ⚓🔧 #Maritime #Shipyard #tugboat #tugandbarge #cargoship #charlestonsc
