Better Place to Work. Better Place to Shop. Better Neighbor.

About us

Stop & Shop has been around for more than 100 years. We started small, as a corner grocery store back in 1914. And we’ve grown…a lot. We have more than 50,000 Associates in 350+ stores throughout Massachusetts, Connecticut, Rhode Island, New York, and New Jersey. Through that change, our values have stayed the same. At Stop & Shop, we’ve made a commitment to making our stores better every day for our associates, our customers, and our communities. It’s our secret recipe for success. It guides everything we do from the products that stock our shelves to the way we manage our stores! It helps us put the customer first, do what’s right, win together, and make ideas happen.

We may be going through a heat wave, but the New York Islanders kept it cool on the ice this past season! As the official supermarket of the Islanders, Stop & Shop donated $50 to Island Harvest Food Bank for every home game assist the Islanders made last season. With 214 home-ice assists this past season, Stop & Shop presented Island Harvest with a check for $10,700 – the equivalent of nearly 21,300 meals for people facing food insecurity across Long Island.

We were proud to donate over $108,000 to Fulfill to support hunger relief programs and nutrition education initiatives in Monmouth and Ocean Counties. The donation came from a combination of our in-store ‘Feed It Forward’ campaign, which ran from May 1st to May 31st, and the Stop & Shop Family Foundation. The donation will support the Fulfill Mobile Pantries and garden programs. The Fulfill Mobile Pantries program is designed to bring food directly to people who lack access to healthy food in their neighborhoods. Families can go to Mobile Pantry sites to receive non-perishable food as well as fresh produce and baked goods. The program serves over 2,000 families each month. The Fulfill Garden Program teaches students the importance of nutritious foods and healthy choices through experiential, hands-on learning. Students get excited about healthy eating by letting them grow a variety of items in raised garden beds at their school. The kids become engaged in learning about nutrition, how food is grown, and why fresh food matters. This donation is part of a larger $2 million donation from Stop & Shop to eight Feeding America food banks across New Jersey, New York, and Connecticut to support programs that fight against food insecurity. In addition to the check presentation, Stop & Shop associates volunteered at the Mobile Pantry and distributed healthy food to local community members. This is how we feed it forward, together! #FeedItForward #NewJersey

Allston Yards has a new Stop & Shop! In designing this new flagship store, our team took a mindful approach to create a store that fits the needs of this growing and diverse neighborhood.   We’re proud to offer over 800 new multicultural products, including a Kosher bakery, halal items from Merve, and global favorites like Korean marinades, Turkish snacks, Indian meal starters, Chinese noodles, Middle Eastern specialties, and Latin-centric products.   The new store also features an expanded produce department with fresh, local fruits and vegetables, sustainably sourced seafood, fresh sushi, and a prepared foods section offering chef-prepared grab & go meals, including flatbread pizzas and a rotating hot bar.    To learn more about the store opening, read this feature in The Boston Globe: https://lnkd.in/eZf6_yFR   Thank you to everyone who joined us for our grand opening celebration, we look forward to serving you at Stop & Shop Allston Yards! 🎉 We won “Leader of the Pack” in Feeding Westchester’s 15th Annual Golden Scoop competition! This competition challenges local companies to pack the most food in the shortest time, all in support of the fight against hunger in our Westchester community. Our amazing associates assembled shelf-stable products for local seniors experiencing food insecurity. Every box packed and dollar raised through this event makes a direct impact on our neighbors in need. In total, the teams packed an impressive 3,000 meal boxes, amounting to 12 tons of food and providing 18,000 meals! Thank you to Feeding Westchester for hosting the incredible event yet again to make a difference and ensure no one in our communities go hungry. Together we can feed it forward!

We were proud to support Boston Medical Center (BMC) with a $285,000 donation to open a second rooftop farm in the Newmarket Square area of the city to provide even more food insecure residents in Boston with essential access to fresh food. The rooftop farm includes culturally relevant crops like callaloo and bok choy, along with staples like kale, arugula, and collard greens. Crops will be distributed to local non-profits and community centers twice a week during the growing season. This is how we feed it forward and nourish our communities, together!

As we honor Juneteenth, we are proud to once again be a sponsor of the Juneteenth activities put on by Embrace Boston including a celebratory block party in Roxbury on Friday featuring live music, local artists, and BIPOC-owned food trucks! The event is free for the community and will take place at Roxbury Community College where Stop & Shop also supports a school food pantry. To learn more about Embrace Boston and the Juneteenth celebrations, visit: https://lnkd.in/eJHSiWiJ   We are also proud to support local Juneteenth events across many of the communities we serve including Juneteenth Joy in Hyde Park, The Urban League of Hudson County's Juneteenth celebration in Jersey City, and the Uniondale School District's Juneteenth event on Long Island.     We honor today as a time to reflect and learn about what this day means to the Black community, our associates, and customers.
