The 4th of July holiday is an American tradition second to none. As we celebrate our nation's independence, we also recognize the need for increased safety precautions as we prepare for the holiday weekend. We held a national safety standdown yesterday on July 3rd, and will be conducting post-holiday standdowns on July 5th and 8th. These standdowns are a crucial part of our ongoing efforts to be vigilant, review safety protocols, share best practices, and look after each other. We look forward to welcoming our teams back to their jobsites relaxed, rejuvenated and focused on putting work in place safely! Suffolk Northeast is thrilled to share that our Winthrop Center project was recently awarded a 2024 CMAA New England Mark H. Hasso Project Achievement Award! Winthrop Center stands apart in its category due to its innovative design and impressive scale. It is the largest office building in the world built to stringent Passive House standards, a highly energy-efficient building standard that also promotes indoor comfort. Due to the project’s unique design, Boston saw its first-ever “sky mat,” a horizontal concrete slab meant to alleviate structural stress by evenly supporting and transferring weight downward throughout a building. This project is a striking addition to the Boston skyline and redefines what is possible in sustainable construction. Thank you to our partners at MP Boston, Handel Architects, DeSimone Consulting Engineering, WSP and Steven Winter Associates for helping us transform this visionary concept into reality!

Suffolk Los Angeles Executive Vice President and Division Manager James Stanley recently published an op-ed in the Los Angeles Business Journal highlighting the benefits of modular construction in affordable housing projects. Modular construction is a process in which standardized, repeated components of a structure are built in an off-site facility and then delivered to the site for assembly. Due to its speed, predictability and sustainability, modular construction is a highly efficient delivery method that can help address California's housing crisis. Modular allows contractors like Suffolk to deliver quality housing solutions for the local community, such as our recently completed 6th and San Julian project in Los Angeles. Our Suffolk West and Guzman Construction Group joint venture team at 490 Avenue of the Palms recently celebrated the building's topping out! 490 Avenue of the Palms will be a high-end multifamily community as part of the Treasure Island/Yerba Buena mixed-use masterplan. This six-story luxury condominium building will house 148 units, complete with one level of below-grade parking. Nestled on the west shore of Treasure Island at Johnson Street and Avenue of The Palms, 490 Avenue of the Palms boasts magnificent roof decks that offer unparalleled views of the iconic San Francisco skyline. Our third annual Suffolk New York Giving Circle golf tournament is in the books! Together, we raised almost $300,000 to give back to those in the Suffolk family facing unforeseen personal hardship. Funded and driven by Suffolk and Liberty employees, as well as our dedicated clients and trade partners, Giving Circle is our way of financially supporting our employees, subcontractors, family members, clients and close friends experiencing tragedy. Our regional golf events are a major source of fundraising and helped Giving Circle distribute over $1.6 million to 150 families last year.
