“When non-profits combine powers, humanity wins.” ⭐ Dr. Ajay Goel recently shared promising results from an early-detection method for identifying two stages of pancreatic cancers through a study with City of Hope. The data highlights the critical, unmet need to identify pancreatic cancer in its early stages. Last week, Swim Across America presented its annual grant to Atrium Health. Thanks to the success of the Swim Across America – Charlotte Open Water Swim, which had over 250 participants brave the cold waters at Camp Thunderbird in October, the organization donated a record $200,000 to support cancer research. Under the leadership of Dr. Michael Grunwald, chief of the Leukemia Division and director of the Transplantation and Cellular Therapy Program at Atrium Health Levine Cancer Institute, Atrium Health offers early access to some of the most groundbreaking treatments for cancer and blood disorders available in the greater Charlotte area. This work is made possible by the philanthropic contributions of our donors and community partners. We are deeply grateful to the Swim Across America team for their steadfast support, which has resulted in nearly $1 million donated to Atrium Health Levine Cancer and Atrium Health Levine Children's since 2017.

RESEARCH MILESTONE! ⭐ The New England Journal of Medicine recently published a paper that showed “dramatic and rapid” regression of glioblastoma in three patients who received groundbreaking CAR-T therapy. The clinical trial was conducted at a lab within Mass General Cancer Center that received earlier funding from Swim Across America - Boston.
