How can organizations build cultures that mobilize people to make the most of #AI — for everyone’s benefit? For thirty years, SYPartners has partnered with organizations to shape their cultures, and we are increasingly helping companies align their adoption of AI with their corporate values and business strategies. Over the past year, we have spoken to technology, data, legal, policy, and HR leaders from 25 companies across 13 industries to understand what is held in common among those organizational cultures that successfully leverage the benefits of AI. Based on these conversations, we’ve identified critical cultural norms, behaviors, rituals, and incentives that help people adapt and thrive in the era of AI, which we've outlined for all to explore at: https://lnkd.in/gYM6xMFf

We're thrilled and proud that Saira Jesani will be guiding the Data & Trust Alliance into its future. Congratulations, Saira! https://lnkd.in/gP_7b_ds
Excited to share news about changes in the leadership of the Data & Trust Alliance. But first a bit of the back story... More than four years ago, Kenneth I. Chenault, Sam Palmisano and a small group of CEOs of leading companies anticipated the arrival of AI. They realized that business had to get it right -- both to unlock AI's value for business and society and to do so in ways that earn trust with all stakeholders. And they knew this could only be achieved through action -- through actual business practice, not pledges and white papers. That's how the Data & Trust Alliance formed in 2020 and this singular mission continues to guide our work. Today our 29 members include some of the most influential leaders in business across all industries, including American Express, AT&T, CVS Health, IBM, Johnson & Johnson, Mastercard, Nike, Pfizer, Salesforce, UPS, Walmart and Warby Parker. The Alliance created the first algorithmic safeguards for use by HR functions to guide AI-supported workforce decisions, the first "new diligence" criteria for M&A teams to assess the value and risks of data- and AI-centric companies, and most recently the first cross-industry standards for data provenance, which are vital for AI trustworthiness. Today, we announced that Saira Jesani is succeeding me as Executive Director; I will become Executive Chairman. Saira has led all of the Alliance's projects over the past four years. She is thoughtful and tireless, collaborative and passionate about our mission. Under her leadership, the Alliance will only intensify and broaden the impact of its work, which is needed more than ever. Details about Saira and her background can be found in this article. https://lnkd.in/eXSUhw_k #responsibleAI #AI #genAI

Last week, we published the Coalitions Builders' Guide in partnership with The Aspen Institute, featuring what we've learned about the 'how' of effective coalition-building after interviewing dozens of coalition builders, leaders, and practitioners in climate and beyond. Recently, The Aspen Institute Energy & Environment Program (EEP) and SYPartners joined forces to create a guide on Building #Coalitions. In the #climate space, the need for concerted and collaborative action has never been more apparent. While individual efforts are valuable, true potential for change lies in collective action toward a common goal: safeguarding our planet for #futuregenerations. Our all-staff Homecoming last month was more than just skill-building and future-focused discussions—it was about connecting outside of the work. From our Greatness Games, a thrilling team relay, to our internal speaker series featuring colleagues' personal stories, in-person moments are essential for fostering strong relationships and a vibrant company culture, particularly for a hybrid organization such as ours. For ideas of how to increase connection, check out SYP Partner Carina Cortese piece, “3 rituals to increase connection in the workplace—no matter how you work”: (https://lnkd.in/gC83kBmE)

We all want to be more creative. But, we also need to be efficient. Our jobs (and capitalism) incentivize us for productivity. Our brains can default to the easiest path to an easy outcome. True creativity requires an open mind, risk-taking, and the possibility of failure, all of which can contradict our instincts and the momentum of productivity. If strategy is the oxygen for business, discovery is the oxygen for creativity. To truly innovate and create anew, we need both. What do we do?

Last month during our company-wide Homecoming, we took a refreshing “Seeing Tour” to Central Park. From group discussions to solo wanderings, stepping out of the office allowed us to observe the world around us and connect with colleagues in new ways. Sometimes, the best ideas and connections happen when we break from routine and enter a discovery mindset. Seeing Tours are one of our favorite methods to inspire and spark fresh perspectives.

Effective coalition-building continues to be a focus for us and our clients. This week, we published the Coalitions Builders' Guide in partnership with The Aspen Institute. The guide shares what we've learned about the 'how' of effective coalition-building after interviewing dozens of coalition builders, leaders, and practitioners in climate and beyond. If you are thinking about forming a coalition, the guide can help clarify aspirations and lay the foundation for effective collaboration. If you are already running a coalition, it can help you sustain momentum. The guide can be downloaded here: https://lnkd.in/g_-ietMQ Thank you to Mikhael Cohen, Sarah Kurland, Derrick Barreiro, Claire Kesson, Nicolas Maitret, María Ortiz Pérez, Greg Gershuny, Ingrid Irigoyen and Taylor Goelz for bringing this work to life.

Another highlight from last month's company-wide Homecoming was our ninth Learning Day, focused on climate action. As climate becomes a greater focus for us internally and with our clients, we took the opportunity of having everyone in NYC to host a panel with a stellar group of experts—Miranda Massie, Director of the The Climate Museum, Satish Rao, Chief Product Officer at Newlab, Matthias Muehlbauer of OnePointFive (opf.degree)—moderated by Alex Blumberg, co-founder of DaisyChain Energy and Gimlet Media. Thank you to our guests for a fascinating discussion, covering topics such as how to enable corporate action, effective ways to engender buy-in on sustainability, the business value of climate initiatives, and coalition-building for impact.
