Account Management / Project Consultant ▶ Promote corporate responsibility ▶ Build partnerships ▶ Optimize nonprofit capacity ▶ Identify and analyze key metrics ➠ Connect teams to social causes and impact change
I learn something every time I show up as a skills-based volunteer. One of my last engagements was designing and implementing a new website for a small business owner. I learned about what could I do (create a simple website that the small business owner could maintain) and what wasn't in my skill area (SEO work is more complicated than I had imagined) Apply for the Taproot Foundation October 24th event, if you are free. It is a satisfying way to drive impact and connect with others.

Last Tuesday, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Louisiana participated in Preaux Bono Day, an event in collaboration with Taproot Foundation, dedicated to supporting our local nonprofits. This initiative brought together our talented Team Blue volunteers to offer targeted support and expertise in the areas of marketing, strategy, HR and IT. The nonprofits we had the privilege of working with included Foster the Love Louisiana, Launch, Blossom, STEM NOLA, Dress for Success Shreveport-Bossier and Volunteer Louisiana. Through this event, we aimed to provide an opportunity for nonprofits to discuss a challenge, brainstorm new opportunities and receive tactical and strategic support. It was an inspiring day filled with collaboration, innovation and shared commitment to making a positive difference in our community.

I'm so proud of the partnership between Taproot Foundation and Johnson & Johnson. These results are an incredible testament to thoughtful scaling: "Between 2018 and 2023, Talent for Healthy Communities grew to include 109 Partner Organizations and 591 J&J employees in 23 countries. These employees donated approximately 34,000 hours of SBV service, valued at over $6.5M*. In addition, 82% of employee participants shared that participating in TFHC increased their motivation to perform in their work, and 85% reported increased job satisfaction because of the program."
In 2018, Taproot partnered with Johnson & Johnson to pilot Talent for Healthy Communities, a skills-based volunteering program that connects J&J employees with community-based partner organizations working to advance health equity. Seven years in, Talent for Healthy Communities has engaged partners in 23 countries across 6 continents in this impactful and culturally relevant program. Today we are proud to release a new report, "Impact at Scale: A Blueprint for Global Skills-Based Volunteering," a framework and guide for other multinational corporations looking to broaden their volunteerism efforts. We hope that the report will inspire other companies to leverage the skills of their workforce to drive meaningful change for organizations on the ground across the globe.
