Thank you Dezeen for showcasing the design of our Teal Wand at-home cervical cancer screening device. Changing an 80+ year Pap smear experience and replacing an 150+ year old speculum takes some creative thinking and thoughtful research. We have a great design partner in IDEO, who shares in our vision to ensure the design is intuitive and comfortable for all body types and health literacy levels. The Teal Wand has since been through multiple clinical trials, including a nationwide study across 17 leading medical organizations and has led to receiving Breakthrough Device Designation from the FDA. We believe in the power of design and can't wait to get the Teal Wand in the hands of people who need it. https://lnkd.in/gj3e6wvE

As we announced last month, our nationwide SELF-CERV study completed enrollment ahead of schedule, while exceeding initial enrollment projections. This was made possible because of the exceptional teams at our study sites and the amazing women who raised their hands to participate. Additionally, we had great partners, like Slope to ensure the operations and logistics ran smoothly. Our very own Trena Depel recently participated in Slope Clinical’s Advisory meeting to discuss the value that using Slope’s biospecimen sample management platform brought to our study. Slope is dedicated to driving best practices in biospecimen management and was an invaluable partner to the rapid and successful enrollment of SELF-CERV, with over 1,000 samples to manage. Our clinical sites loved the simplicity of ordering supplies, logging samples, and managing shipments using the Slope platform, and Teal Health appreciated the real-time metrics to understand enrollment and sample movement across our 17 clinical sites and multiple labs. We will certainly be using Slope for our future studies as well. Here are a few highlights of the benefits we measured.

Thank you Fast Company for showcasing our at-home cervical cancer screening device and our telehealth service. There is so much potential to increase screening rates and reduce cervical cancer incidence in the US, using at-home screening, virtual provider support, and care navigation to in-person follow-up care (when appropriate). We are excited for the journey ahead! https://lnkd.in/g4qnqXck

We're proud to partner with Evvy and many other companies as part of the #EqualResearchDay Collaborative this year. Addressing the gender health gap requires a collective effort, and while our work is just beginning, it's incredibly inspiring to see the dedication and energy committed to this shared mission. #womenshealth #genderhealthgap #womensresearch
It’s #EqualResearchDay! 💥 Evvy created #EqualResearchDay on June 10 because women weren’t required in U.S. clinical research until June 10th, 1993 (Think Equal Pay Day but for the gender health gap!) To this day, there are countless holes ⚫ in our scientific and medical understanding of the female body — and that directly impacts us as patients. If you’ve ever experienced delays in diagnoses, failed treatments, mystery symptoms with no answers, or medical gaslighting — #EqualResearchDay is for you. This year, we brought together 46 innovative companies and compiled 100 Effed Facts about the Gender Health Gap across 12 health areas: ⚫ Autoimmune Disease ⚫ Brain + Mental Health ⚫ Cancer ⚫ Endometriosis ⚫ Fertility ⚫ Heart Health ⚫ Hormonal Health ⚫ Maternal Health ⚫ Medical Gaslighting ⚫ Menopause ⚫ Menstrual & Sexual Health ⚫ Vaginal & Urinary Health Earlier this week, we launched a limited-edition coffee table book featuring all 100 Effed Facts to benefit Women's Health Access Matters (you can order a copy at EqualResearchDay.com before they sell out... !) But we decided these facts are too important not to share widely — so we are posting a public version here on LinkedIn. 𝗛𝗢𝗪 𝗬𝗢𝗨 𝗖𝗔𝗡 𝗛𝗘𝗟𝗣: 💥 Share this post (and add your story about why equal research matters to you)! 💥 Learn more and shop the limited edition coffee table book to benefit WHAM at EqualResearchDay.com The female body shouldn’t be a medical mystery — together, let’s close the gender health gap for good. #equalresearchday2024 #evvy #genderhealthgap #closethegenderhealthgap ——— 2024 Equal Research Day Collaborative: Evvy Aavia adyn Allara AOA Dx Bloomer Tech Caraway Clue Cofertility Conceive Diem DotLab Doveras Elektra Health Elix Frame Gabbi Gaia Gameto Health In Her HUE HerMD Hey Jane The Honey Pot Company Iron Health Julie Products Inc. The good news keeps on coming! Last week, we announced our FDA Breakthrough Designation for our at-home self-collect cervical cancer screening device and yesterday, Roche and BD announced they have received FDA approval for their in-clinic self-collect cervical cancer screening methods. Our Breakthrough Designation grants us priority review with the FDA once we submit our final study data, and the in-clinic approval is an important first step in helping to bring at-home screening through the FDA. Our clinical trial was run on both the Roche and BD Primary HPV assays. We are thrilled for Roche and BD and congratulate them on this important work to expand screening options for women and people with a cervix. #womenshealth #tealhealth #femtech https://lnkd.in/ep7CVdKG

We’re proud to be part of Teal Health’s journey to create a more comfortable pap smear 🔬 Kara Egan, one of the cofounders behind Teal, wanted to make cervical cancer screening more accessible. The current process involves an uncomfortable procedure that must be performed in a doctor's office. The company came to IDEO for help designing an applicator and testing experience that would allow users to safely and accurately collect a sample at home and be inclusive for anyone with a cervix. The first challenge was to create the wand. The IDEO team set out to design functional, testable prototypes to make sure the idea was viable, and incorporate diverse voices into the research process, including trans, minority, and disabled women. They used a 3-D printer to create multiples of every prototype, autoclaves to make sure that the designs they were creating were sterile, and leaned into shapes women are already used to, like the cylindrical shape of a tampon. In January 2023, Teal raised an $8.8 million seed round from Serena Ventures, Emerson Collective, and Metrodora, and later that year, launched a nationwide clinical trial with leading health organizations including Johns Hopkins University, Yale University, the University of Colorado, Washington University, and others to support FDA submission and approval. It’s an enormous step toward its North Star: saving lives by catching cervical cancer earlier. Read more about the collaborative process: https://lnkd.in/gnHs9Hpt

Our CEO and Co-Founder, Kara Egan, took the stage last night as a panelist in the Cancer Diagnostics Revolution session, to talk cervical cancer prevention through at-home self-collect screening. #MIGlobal
Tonight I had the opportunity to join pioneering leaders in cancer diagnostics and prevention on stage at the Milken Institute Global Conference. Together, we discussed the crucial role of early diagnostics in enhancing survival rates for various cancers, the importance of building and tailoring solutions and healthcare experiences based on patient preferences, and the ongoing commitment needed from leaders to innovate and expand access to life-saving screenings. At Teal Health we are working to enhance access to critical cervical cancer screenings by offering them conveniently and privately in the comfort of one's home. Exciting things are coming! Many thanks to Helmy Eltoukhy, Jody Hoyos, MHA, Larry Kessler, Anaeze Offodile, Greg Simon for the great conversation. #cervicalcancer #womenfounders #cancerdiagnostics #womenshealth
