Last week, Team PA was represented by Senior Managing Director of Strategic Energy Initiatives, Tom Murphy at The White House Convening on Accelerating Clean Energy Deployment Through Meaningful Community Engagement. This convening focused on how early and meaningful community engagement can advance the work to build our nation’s clean energy future faster and more efficiently. Participants from government agencies, community-based organizations, and clean energy developers highlighted success stories and best practices for meaningful community engagement during the development of clean energy and transmission projects, as well as strategies to maximize benefits for workers and communities, and discussed how to scale and build upon them. The ARM Institute (Advanced Robotics for Manufacturing) recently announced its Robotics Manufacturing Hub (RMH) is now installed and operational in its Mill 19 headquarters in Pittsburgh, PA. The RMH is federally funded by the Build Back Better (BBB) Regional Challenge awarded by the U.S. Economic Development Administration through the Southwestern Pennsylvania New Economy Collaborative. Through the Hub, ARM Institute experts guide manufacturers through a no-cost, customized automation assessment process that includes consultation on the applications that will benefit the most from robotics and automation, analysis on ROI potential, and risk mitigation. The Hub helps small manufacturers in southwestern PA evaluate operations, explore the potential for robotics to improve productivity, prototype robotics solutions, and understand how robotics solutions can augment workforce gaps. The RMH also hosts workshops for manufacturers in common automation applications using the many robots in the facility. Small and medium-sized manufacturers with operations in southwestern PA are eligible for this no-cost service. Additionally, large companies with a small or medium-sized operation may also be eligible for assistance.
