  • Today is Nelson Mandela International Day and what would have been his 106th birthday. This day was established by the United Nations in 2009 not only to honor Nelson Mandela for his courage and commitment but to call upon all citizens to “take action, make a difference, and inspire change.” For almost 100 years, The Children’s Museum’s sole purpose has been to inspire people to help shape a better future. We believe that all people have the potential to make a difference, and we invite you to join us in celebrating the life, legacy, and impact of one of the world’s most iconic freedom fighters. Mandela: The Official Exhibition open now—Jan. 20! https://bit.ly/3ReJbSC

  • In February 1990, after 27 years in prison, Nelson Mandela walked free. It was a triumph for the anti-apartheid movement and a landmark moment for global human rights. But what kind of freedom did Nelson Mandela walk toward? He faced the bitter realities of a divided South Africa on the verge of civil war. The road to democracy would be hard. Mandela’s values and commitment to making the world a better place are just as vital now as they were during his lifetime. Mandela: The Official Exhibition is open now: https://bit.ly/3ReJbSC
