Each year, our Philly Spin-In event supports the Cardiac Center Innovation Awards that offer transformative approaches to major challenges in pediatric heart disease. This year’s annual team-cycling fundraising event raised more than $1 million to bolster the work of the Cardiac Center at CHOP, one of the world’s largest and most accomplished pediatric heart centers, funding five research projects that aim to push new boundaries of research in the field. Last month Amazon Web Services (AWS) announced its Children’s Innovation Initiative which aims to empower nonprofit institutions to advance pediatric causes worldwide. The multi-million-dollar commitment will provide resources and access to a growing consortium of hospitals and other institutions that use both cloud computing and artificial intelligence with the common goal to accelerate research and discoveries. The Center for Data Driven Discovery in Biomedicine at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, led by Dr. Adam Resnick, will receive funding to support its Children's Brain Tumor Network research program, dedicated to finding new prognostic biomarkers and therapies for the effective treatment of children with brain tumors.
