EOLWD oversees the Department of Unemployment Assistance (DUA), the Department of Career Services (DCS), the Department of Labor Standards (DLS), the Department of Industrial Accidents (DIA), the Department of Labor Relations (DLR), the Department of Family and Medical Leave (DFML), the Division of Apprentice Standards (DAS), the Council on the Underground Economy, and the Commonwealth Corporation. 📺 Behind the WorkforceMA Episode 1: Investing in Technology Last year, Per Scholas Greater Boston received a grant from Commonwealth Corporation through the Workforce Competitiveness Trust Fund to provide technology job training and career services to 200 individuals in greater Boston. Justin joined the program with no previous background in technology. In just four months, he was able to graduate the program and received his CompTIA A+ certification. Join us in celebrating the latest graduates of the Career Technical Initiative (CTI) at Monty Tech! Montachusett Regional Vocational School (Monty Tech) has proudly equipped 53 program participants with valuable skills in Carpentry, HVAC, and Plumbing, funded through CTI, a grant program administered by Commonwealth Corporation under the Executive Office of Labor and Workforce Development (EOLWD), CTI grant partners with vocational high schools to offer adult learners, especially those unemployed, underemployed, or from underserved and underrepresented communities, the career training and technical skills needed by Massachusetts employers. This transformative program turns vocational high schools across the Commonwealth into “Career Technical Institutes,” running shifts after school hours to provide skill-building programs in construction, trades, manufacturing, and various career pathways. Workforce development and vocational training are essential for creating opportunities and meeting the evolving needs of our economy. Thank you, Monty Tech and partners, for training our workforce!

Congratulations to Jackie, a sophomore at Assabet Valley Regional Vocational School District, studying HVAC, for bringing home a silver medal at the SkillsUSA National Leadership and Skills Competition last week! 🥈 Our team was pleased to meet Jackie and her fellow classmates last month when we joined the Massachusetts Executive Office of Education to announce new Skills Capital Grants. When she graduates high school, Jackie plans to enter the workforce as an HVAC technician and contribute to Massachusetts' clean energy and sustainability goals. 👏
