OppNet Class of 2030, our newest class of Fellows, began Summer Institute this week! These outstanding 11th graders attended a career exposure trip to our friends at BNY Mellon, where they learned about #globalbanking, #cybersecurity, and #AI. Thank you Jason Carlos Rosado and the BNY Mellon team for hosting us. Jason left our Fellows with a powerful message: “you belong here.” They most certainly do! 🌟

About us
The Opportunity Network (OppNet) equips high school and college students with the skills and experiences to harness their power and passions to thrive through college and career. We recognize networks as critical levers for academic and professional success for youth, so we take an innovative approach by underscoring the power of personal connections and professional relationships as vital complements to the skills and experiences OppNet develops in students. Through robust college counseling, intentional engagement with leaders and professionals across industries, intensive training in networking, and experiential learning in various career paths through five summers of internships and enrichment programming, our students are able to harness their agency to achieve their academic and career goals.

It's been one week since our incredible 2024 Night of Opportunity Gala, where we celebrated esteemed honorees from the finance, media, and entertainment industries and raised our glasses to the future: to the young people who make our OppNet community what it is. ✨ Together, our over 800 guests gathered to raise $3.4 million in support of OppNet's mission to close the opportunity gap and give students access to colleges, career opportunities, professional networks, and support that empowers them to achieve their goals. The energy in Cipriani was electric. Check out this video to see for yourself! #philanthropy #opportunity #access #NightOfOpp

Over 800 guests from the finance, entertainment, philanthropy, and media industries gathered to raise $3.4 million in support of OppNet’s mission to close the opportunity gap and give students access to colleges, career opportunities, professional networks, and support that empowers them to achieve their goals. Our incredible honorees shared powerful testimonies touching on themes of community, perseverance, and self-discovery. To Anu Aiyengar, Rashida Jones, and Jamie Hector: thank you for being you, and sharing yourselves and your stories with OppNet. Congratulations to our amazing student and alumni honorees: Silvana Navia, OppNet Class of 2024; Sen Feng, OppNet Class of 2025; Tahrif Chowdhury, OppNet Class of 2028; and Windy Dias, OppNet Class of 2022. Your speeches touched the hearts of everyone in the room: we couldn’t be more proud of you and we can’t wait to cheer you on in all your future endeavors. The Opportunity Network reposted this
Last week, The Opportunity Network held their second annual community gathering in D.C., “If You Build It: Preparing Talent & Employers for Impactful Internships and More Inclusive Workplaces”. Their event brought together educators, practitioners, and leaders to collaborate on advancing social justice and educational equity nationwide, as well as empowering underrepresented students to create more inclusive workplaces. We’re honored to partner with The Opportunity Network in this vital work and look forward to continuing to build pathways to success for the next generation! 🙌

"Those of us who are first generation college, once we get in the door, we become the master of initiative. We have all these resources, so we’re like what can we do?” Read more wisdom from OppNet President and CEO Lucria Ortiz in this feature by NYN Media! #firstgen #access #collegereadiness
Thank you NYN Media for the feature. It’s no accident I’ve entered the college and career access space during a changing legal landscape fraught with challenged dialogue around identity. As always, remaining a voice for who I serve is key and centering the experiences and voice of our youth will help provide a much needed lens. Our future workplaces are dependent on bold leadership now willing to respond to the current pendulum swing with advocacy for continued access and inclusion. At The Opportunity Network we are molding the leaders of tomorrow, and the future will thank us for it. #opportunityunleashed
