One in five Philadelphians are age 60 and older and of those 1 in 5 live below the federal poverty level. To help improve housing stability, health outcomes, and overall wellbeing of low-income older residents in the city, Pew has awarded $4 million to Pathways to Housing PA, Health Federation of Philadelphia and SeniorLAW Center. These grants will help to: ✅ Provide housing and supports to chronically homeless aging Philadelphians living with serious mental illness or substance use disorders. ✅ Address the long-term care needs of people with schizophrenia and schizoaffective disorder through a new integrated care program in nursing homes. ✅ Protect the rights of older people. According to the Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology (ONC), about three-quarters of hospitals experience challenges reporting data to public health agencies, partially due to the staff, time, and investment required by these entities to connect to one another. The Trusted Exchange Framework and Common Agreement (TEFCA) is designed to help – serving as a one-stop data-sharing hub for providers, public health agencies, payers, and other health care stakeholders. In this article, I provide a rundown on some of the key milestones since TEFCA's launch in 2022, and the benefits of accessing more timely, accurate, and complete data from a wider range of sources made possible by this network of networks.

Since launching two years ago, the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline has fielded 10 million calls, chats, and texts. While this level of engagement is promising, awareness of the resource continues to lag. In fact, only 23% of Americans say they're at least somewhat familiar with 988. But there are reasons for hope as states continue outreach efforts and the federal government works to make call responses more accurate. #MentalHealth #BehavioralHealth

Today marks the 2 year anniversary of the launch of the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline. While over 10 million calls, texts, and chats have been answered so far, efforts continue to try to reach more people. My colleagues and I at The Pew Charitable Trusts recently voiced our support for the proposed FCC rule change for geo-routing to do just that. Read my full article to learn more 👇

41% of adults experienced high levels of psychological distress at some point during the pandemic. The powerful sense of touch could be vital in providing comfort and connection to those feeling isolated or distressed. In a new podcast season of "After the Fact," Columbia University's Ishmail Abdus-Saboor shares his research on sensory perception through touch, the potential for touch-based therapies, and how scientists are thinking about the application of their findings beyond the lab. 🎧 Listen now. https://pew.org/3LhFoQN

New data from Pew Research Center shows that political division has emerged on alternative energy issues. While a majority of Americans want to reduce carbon dioxide emissions and support having more wind power, solar energy, and electric vehicles, opposition has increased in recent years. This Bloomberg article explores the data and offers some potential reasons why this is happening. https://lnkd.in/eiMG8FEA

15% of U.S. veterans lack an internet connection, per the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. Access to broadband can also mean access to healthcare, employment opportunities, and education. So many of the benefits Americans enjoy every day thanks to the sacrifices of servicemembers and their families—don't veterans deserve the same? Yes. Retired US Army Captain and Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America (IAVA) CEO Allison Jaslow knows this firsthand. The veteran community she found online helped ease her transition when she returned home. But for other veterans to access that community, they need to be able to log on. That’s why affordable and reliable broadband is so important. #BroadbandForAll #VeteransHelpingVeterans
