About us
The Boys & Girls Club of Truckee Meadows is the leading non-profit youth services agency in northern Nevada. Its mission is to enhance the quality of life for children, ages 0 to 18, in the Truckee Meadows through after-school, summer and track break programming and services. The Club is committed to creating healthy children, in body and mind, with a sense of competence, usefulness, responsibility, belonging and influence, through diverse programs and community involvement. Founded in 1976, the Club now serves nearly 13,000 children at 40+ sites throughout Nevada. At all of its sites, the Boys & Girls Club strives to provide kids with positive and productive outlets for their energy with programs such as after-school tutoring, character and leadership development, healthy lifestyles, athletics and art. And while the Club invests more than $3,000 annually into each of its members, memberships cost just $20 per year, providing equal opportunity to all children in the community.

🎉 Exciting News Alert! 🎉 We are thrilled the Legislature and Governor Joe Lombardo have approved a $16.7 million funding boost for the Boys & Girls Clubs' Early Learning expansion in Nevada! 🚀 This investment will significantly enhance our early learning centers and increase childcare accessibility for families statewide, but the impact of this funding extends beyond childcare. As our CEO Mike Wurm emphasized, "It’s a game-changing economic driver for working parents." These projects, eagerly anticipated by mining, trades, charter schools, and local government employees, will play a vital role in supporting our workforce and fostering economic growth. 📈 Exciting times are ahead as we invest in our children, families, and communities. Together, we're building a brighter future for Nevada! 💪 #EarlyLearning #CommunityInvestment #NevadaStrong 🌟 https://lnkd.in/g2srP46k

We're wrapping up our 2024 Black History Month celebration with a feature on none other than our incredible YLC Chair, Lonnie Jackson! Here's what L.J. Jackson had to say: Reflecting on my journey as a club member, one memory stands out vividly - the unwavering support and encouragement I received to participate in athletics right from the start. 🏅 The club stood by me throughout high school, offering a convenient on-campus location at Hug High. With their academic guidance and coaching mentorship, I achieved numerous all-region athletic honors, clinched multiple northern regional championships, secured two state championships, and was honored as the NIAA Athlete of the Year in 2012. 🏆 That journey paved the way for an athletic scholarship to the University of Nevada, Reno. That scholarship facilitated my pursuit of an undergraduate degree in Criminal Justice 🔍 and enabled me to earn a Master's degree in Educational Leadership 🎓. Subsequently, I was recognized as the 2019 College of Education Outstanding Young Alumni and honored as a 2023 Wolf Pack Way Honoree. Additionally, it empowered me to establish myself as a small business owner within our community. 🏢 🏅 Head over to our Facebook page /PositivePlace for the full story. 💙
