Hart Energy captures the excitement around geothermal energy in this fantastic story by Velda Addison. Great insight from Fervo Energy's Sarah Jewett. “It’s a common misconception that all this innovation needs to happen in order to bring geothermal power to market. But we have all of the technology we need. So, the only thing we have to do is build the projects and deliver to the market.” “Next-generation geothermal power is poised to become a key contributor to a secure domestic decarbonized power sector in the United States. This is an industry that is ready to grow to large scale,” said Charles Gertler, with U.S. Department of Energy (DOE). "It’s really adapting technology we have today, and not just technology but processes—bringing tried and true processes that have been developed over the years to scale the oil and gas industry into geothermal,” said Ajit Menon with Baker Hughes. Cindy D. Taff said, “In Sage’s view, the challenge is now the thermodynamics and geomechanics challenges of basically getting the heat out of the rock, getting it to the surface,” to cost-effectively turn heat into electricity, Taff said. “We’re looking at both the well design and the power plant design. We think both of them are crucial.” Special shoutouts to: Wells2Watts Geothermal Consortium, Baker Hughes, California Resources Corporation, Chesapeake Energy, Continental Resources, INPEX Corporation, GreenFire Energy Inc, Vallourec, Sage Geosystems Inc., Helmerich & Payne, Devon Energy, Clean Air Task Force, Eavor Technologies Inc., Chevron, Utah FORGE, Terra Rogers, Tim Latimer, and John Redfern.

Texas Geothermal Energy Alliance (TXGEA) reposted this
Director/Owner of Pink Granite Consulting Limited Geothermal Consultant/Trainer Blackreiver consulting
Thanks, ThinkGeoEnergy, this was a fun interview Kevin and I did during lunchbreak when we were teaching 40 enthusiastic future Geothermal engineers in Taiwan. 6 months later, my comments hold true and even more ground breaking Geothermal projects are spinning up. Mazama Energy in the US are pushing forward with groundbreaking technology in Oregon that could revolutionize Dry Super-Hot Rock.
Capacity building is going to be a crucial element in a growing geothermal sector. With more geothermal projects being started, there will be an increasing need for skilled geoscientists, drillers, and other technical workers. Tony Pink and Kevin Gray BSc (Hons) of Black Reiver Consulting have been doing some heavy lifting in this department, sharing their knowledge on drilling in many emerging markets and helping to establish geothermal drilling standards globally. Check out this interview for some insight on the work that they are doing and the growing momentum for geothermal. #TIGC2024 #drilling #geothermal #geothermalnews
