  • Yesterday afternoon, Union City was honored to be an official stop on the National League of Cities (NLC) Centennial Roadshow: 100 Years, 100 Cities. This year-long celebration marks a century of commitment to advancing local government and advocating for the interests of cities, towns, and villages nationwide. During this memorable event, Union City, Georgia's FASTEST-GROWING City, showcased its vibrant community spirit. The NLC guests were warmly welcomed by the incredible Banneker High School Drumline at City Hall. From there, they were escorted by our Police Motorcycle unit to the Gathering Place, where our Fire Department and Grants Division gave inspiring presentations on the impactful use of ARPA funding for critical initiatives. These initiatives are pivotal to pushing our City's R3 Master Plan to Reclaim, Renew, and Reimagine our community. The NLC's roadshow, which kicked off in February at the University of Kansas in Lawrence, will continue its journey across the country, spotlighting the diversity, resilience, and transformation of America's local communities. We are #ucproud to be part of this incredible celebration! • Have you seen the newest mural at the Highway 29 Ballfields? Created during a community clean-up day with residents and local artists, it spans the length of the retaining wall and showcases the R3 message encouraging UC to Reclaim, Renew, and Reimagine how they interact with the City park. Just another reason that UC is such a great small city! #ucproud

The Cultural Arts and Marketing team works hard to ensure all residents can participate in creative outlets, with a heavy focus on bringing more access to art classes, shows, and installations to our City by hosting quarterly art shows, hiring local artists to paint colorful murals, and holding free painting and pottery classes last fall with local studios.
