West Acres Development, LLP (West Acres) is such an amazing, community-centric place! We are so thankful for their support as a LIVE UNITED Partner, as well as the other great ways they make our work possible! Their food court offers a place not only to eat, but also to give back! How, you ask? 🎉 In February, West Acres hosted our Brewing Up Kindness event where volunteers packed care kits for the Great Plains Food Bank. 🎒 If you visit the Food Court this month, you'll see piles of School Supplies as they're serving as a drop off site for the 6,000 backpacks United Way volunteers will pack next week! *Don't forget to drop off your supplies by July 23rd! 😉 We are grateful the West Acres team creates spaces to gather and give back and for their year-round LIVE UNITED Partnership!

About us
United Way of Cass-Clay connects people to people, needs to resources, and experts to advocates to improve lives and advance the common good throughout Cass and Clay counties. OUR VISION is to inspire community-wide collaboration by providing the greatest return on investment in addressing the needs in our community. We serve local individuals who need support in creating better opportunities for themselves and their families. We empower those who make a commitment to LIVE UNITED by inviting them to give, advocate and volunteer for their community. Helping people is at the center of all we do. Everything we have ever done or ever will do will be centered on helping local individuals and families while addressing needs in our community. United Way’s work goes well beyond our historical role of funding strong non-profit partners. Today we are leveraging our investments, resources, volunteers, and corporate partnerships to deliver transformative, measurable results. United Way has undergone a dramatic shift in how we work to address needs in our community. From a historic community chest with a broad charitable mission, we have evolved into a critical community convener that mobilizes our partners, including businesses, community leaders, public officials, residents, and non-profit organizations. Dollars raised by United Way of Cass-Clay are strategically invested in 4 areas: • Reducing Hunger and Homelessness • Preparing Children to Succeed • Helping People Be Independent • Lifting People Out of Poverty Learn more: www.unitedwaycassclay.org www.facebook.com/unitedwayofcassclay www.twitter.com/UnitedWayFargo Contact our team: UnitedWay@unitedwaycassclay.org 701.237.5050

At United Way of Cass-Clay, we believe everyone deserves access to nutritious food, yet we know that on average nearly 16,000 people in our community, including 6,400 children, experience hunger each year. That’s why this morning we hosted 'Nourishing Our Communities: Solutions to End Hunger Impact Panel' with an incredible group of local leaders who are making a difference in our community every day. Thank you Michelle Draxten Fargo Cass Public Health, Dre Blotsky Sanford Health, Simone Wai Folkways, and Melissa Sobolik Great Plains Food Bank for bringing awareness to the systems in our community that work to ensure everyone has access to nutritious food. Together we can make a difference in the lives of our neighbors in need!

We are fortunate to live in a community filled with people from a variety of different backgrounds and cultures. We embrace opportunities to listen, share, and learn with our neighbors. Recently we attended the Somali Heritage Celebration in Broadway Square where Mayor Mahoney proclaimed June 28 as Somali Heritage Day in Fargo. ESHARA, IMMIGRANT DEVELOPMENT CENTER, and Folkways, all partners of ours were involved with bringing this community event to life. New Roots Midwest and the NDSU Somali Student Association also co-hosted the event. Learn more here: https://lnkd.in/g-tRv9MR

Yesterday our team got the opportunity to connect with other community leaders and service providers in creating an aspirational vision for the future of the Downtown Engagement Center. Our goals as a group included ensuring low barrier access, a welcoming environment, and ensuring a Housing First focus. Thank you to The City of Fargo for hosting this thoughtful conversation.
