Upper Peninsula State Bank was formed in 1902 for the purpose of providing banking services to the citizens of Delta and surrounding counties. From humble beginnings, our founders and their successors built one of the finest financial institutions in the Upper Peninsula. For 119 years we have made loans to start or expand local businesses and have provided mortgages to thousands of people to build and buy homes.   • Our Community Bank President, Andy Herro, is a new Trustee for the Community Foundation of Marquette County. Our employees, as well as our Bank as a whole, appreciates the chance to contribute to these valuable community organizations.

    The CFMC is pleased to welcome Kyle Aho, Alex Flannery, Andy Herro, and Emily Leach to its Board of Trustees. Kyle Aho – Gwinn Area Community Fund Kyle was born and raised in Gwinn. He earned his Doctorate of Physical Therapy degree in May of 2017. He then joined the team at Active Physical Therapy and served as the clinic director in outpatient orthopedics for four years. During that time, he and his wife continued to grow a real estate investment company that they started in 2010 which has become their full-time role with the mission of changing the culture of attainable housing in Marquette County. Alex Flannery Alex is the first U.P. resident hired on a remote basis to the Michigan Arts and Culture Council. Currently, he serves as Program Manager and works with his colleagues to distribute operational and project-based grant funding to arts and culture organizations around the state. Alex is an alum of both Michigan Tech and the University of Cincinnati. Alex spends time volunteering and is an active musician in several local ensembles. Andy Herro Andy grew up in Manistique and graduated from NMU. Andy is the Community Bank President for Upper Peninsula State Bank. Prior to that, Andy was the Executive Vice President for Miners State Bank. He has reported to a Board of Directors throughout his career and believes “the role of a good director/trustee is to help shepherd the institution and to support the management team while providing referrals and input/guidance when needed”. Emily Leach While studying Environmental Studies and Sustainability as well as Native American Studies at NMU, Emily also had an internship with the Alger Conservation District. She transitioned to a Program Manager position with Superior Watershed Partnership, and eventually advanced to work as Senior Planner with Marquette County. Previously, Emily worked with CFMC on the Marquette County Master Plan 2040, Our Common Future initiative and grants, and the Clean Energy grant through CS Mott Foundation.
