Last week, we had the pleasure of hosting our talented interns at our Richmond office. It was a fantastic opportunity for them to connect with various team members and company leaders, fostering meaningful discussions about our mission and goals. One of the highlights of their visit was a tour of our Crystal Hill Solar site in Halifax County, Virginia. Experiencing the site firsthand allowed our interns to see the inner workings of solar energy production and engage in insightful conversations. They asked thoughtful questions about technology, sustainability practices, and the future of the renewable energy sector. We are proud to support their journey and look forward to seeing how these experiences shape their future careers in renewable energy!   #Internship #TeamUrbanGrid #RenewableEnergy

Urban Grid is officially participating in Plastic-Free July! Plastic-Free July is a global movement that encourages individuals and communities to reduce their plastic consumption and waste throughout July, with the goal of creating long-term habits that minimize plastic use year-round. As we embark on Plastic-Free July, it’s crucial to reflect on the profound impact of single-use plastics on our environment. Each year, billions of tons of plastic waste pollute our oceans, harm wildlife, and threaten ecosystems worldwide. At Urban Grid, we recognize the urgent need for change and are committed to taking meaningful steps toward sustainability. Our Challenge to Employees: Throughout July, we are challenging our employees to reduce their plastic footprint. By making simple switches to reusable alternatives and conscientiously avoiding single-use plastics, we will collectively make a difference. Incentivizing Sustainability: We are incentivizing our employees with a #BCorp gift card lottery. It is not just about reducing plastic waste; it is about supporting businesses that share our commitment to a cleaner, healthier planet. We can lead by example and inspire others to join the movement toward a plastic-free future. Let us make this Plastic-Free July count, together, we will turn small actions into big impact. #PlasticFreeJuly #Sustainability #EnvironmentalAwareness #ReduceReuseRecycle

Solar grazing duo, Jess Gray and Marcus Gray, CWB®, have received a nomination for “Ranchers of the Year” from the North American Agrivoltaics Awards!    We are honored to have Jess and Marcus lead the way in our agrivoltaics endeavors on our Crystal Hill facility and on other projects across Virginia. Outside of on-site management, the Gray’s have worked tremendously hard to promote solar grazing both in Virginia and across the Mid-Atlantic region.  Jess is a 2023 Nuffield International Farming Scholar, a 2024 Virginia Rural leader, and a board member for The American Solar Grazing Association. Marcus is a Certified Wildlife Biologist (CWB) with expertise in natural resources stewardship.  Their push for creating a future in #Agrivoltaics is palpable, and we are thrilled to work with Gray’s LAMBscaping, LLC to advance the cause across our industry. Join us and cast a vote for the Gray's!

As we commemorate Juneteenth, let us heed the words of Texas Rep. Albert Ely Edwards: "Every year, we must remind successive generations that this event triggered a series of events that one by one define the challenges and responsibilities of successive generations. That’s why we need this holiday." Juneteenth stands as a beacon of freedom and justice, marking the day when all slaves were emancipated and igniting a movement towards equality and liberation. At Urban Grid, we recognize the significance of this day and stand in solidarity with the Black American community. We reaffirm our commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, understanding that our journey towards a more just society requires continuous effort and unwavering support. This Juneteenth, let us honor the past struggles and sacrifices, celebrate the progress we have made, and rededicate ourselves to the ongoing fight for equality and justice. #Juneteenth #Equality #CleanEnergy

The second round of Urban Grid Community Impact Scholarships have been awarded in Fannett Township, PA! In May, Urban Grid’s Community Engagement Manager, Amanda Marple MA, presented Carson Beaumont and Ezra Johnson from Fannett-Metal High School with their $2,500 awards. We were delighted to have the opportunity to participate in the awards ceremony with Fannett-Metal School Counselor, Michelle Moore, and the Business Manager of the Fannett-Metal School District, Dan Simpson. Both students will be pursuing degrees in engineering after graduation, and we look forward to the positive impact these students will have on our world. Congratulations! #CommunityCommitment 🌎

Urban Grid is honored to be a steadfast supporter of the Chesapeake Bay Foundation, aligning with its mission to preserve and safeguard one of the world's most cherished natural resources. Over the past three years, our contributions exceeding $100,000 have bolstered the CBF's efforts to "Save the Bay," encompassing its expansive 64,000-square-mile watershed which is home to 3,000 plant and animal species. As a #cleanenergy company dedicated to combating climate change, we deeply value the Chesapeake Bay's pivotal role in our environment. A heartfelt thank you to CBF President and CEO, Hilary Harp Falk, and Taryn Dwan, Director of Stewardship & Events, and the entire CBF team for hosting a terrific Bands in the Sand Event last weekend, raising critical funds and awareness for the work ahead. Lastly, we were delighted to be joined this year by veterans from two local organizations we support, American Legion Post 278 and Warrior Events. We thank you for your service and your shared commitment to the greater Annapolis community. #urbangridgives #supportourveterans #communitycommitment
