The Urban Institute and the Microsoft Justice Reform Initiative have collaborated to launch the next cohort of the Catalyst Grant Program to support local communities to advance racial #equity and reform in the criminal legal system in prevention, policing, and prosecution. Local organizations are at the forefront of creating systemic change in the criminal legal system. And by improving access to relevant #data and technology, communities can have additional tools to inform and improve policies and practices that make the criminal legal system more equitable. Through the Catalyst Grant Program, 27 local organizations will undertake projects that analyze, visualize, and share relevant data to support local organizing, advocacy, and services. Examples of this year's projects include • analyzing program data so diversion programs can support groups impacted by overincarceration; • exploring racial disparities in arrests to identify potential changes needed to policing practices in areas like pedestrian and traffic stops; and • enhancing data and technology tools for court watching programs to increase the transparency of pre-trial decisions and advocate for #policy reforms. Please help share this program with your networks. https://urbn.is/4eWpSaH
