We were thrilled to celebrate with the team at EAH Housing during the recent Agave Wall-Raising Ceremony! 🏗 Agave is a 58-unit brand-new affordable housing development for Special Needs individuals located on the Lake Avenue commercial corridor. Construction will be complete in 2025. “We see Agave as an opportunity to address this demand and provide Altadena with a community where the needs of individuals facing housing instability will be addressed," said Laura Hall, CEO and President of EAH Housing. “We are grateful for our partnership with Union Station Homeless Services and the countless ways their services will benefit the lives of Agave residents for years to come.” We are looking forward to working with EAH Housing to provide more services to the Altadena community! 🧡

The results from Pasadena's 2024 Homeless Count reveal a record number - 410 people - permanently housed last year! 🎉 Homelessness is down 12% in Pasadena since 2015. This means the services we and other local organizations provide are working! We can see many positives from this count, but this year's results mirror the national and regional rising trend of homelessness within the Latino community. 📈 Rising costs and lack of affordable housing are pushing low-income communities out on the street, and we must continue to bring visibility to this issue to stop this trend. 🎧 Listen to The Rise in Latino Homelessness episode on our Changing The Narrative About Homelessness Podcast to learn more: https://lnkd.in/gf9EnN9i Source: City of Pasadena #endhomelessness #latinohomelessness #homelesscount #pasadenahomelesscount

Our most recent A Way Home Column by VP of Advocacy, Shawn Morrissey, in Pasadena Star News highlights the Housing First approach and how it transformed the late Dorothy Edwards' life. Dorothy was a Union Station client who rebuilt her life AFTER securing housing. Shawn writes about his time as Dorothy's case manager and what Housing First did for her peace of mind and comfort. Having a home allowed Dorothy to address her addiction and trauma. She then devoted the rest of her life to helping others as a caseworker and became a nationally known advocate against homelessness. Rest in Peace to Dorothy, whose legacy lives on. 🕊 Read the column here: https://lnkd.in/gfuX_kgc

BREAKING: Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority released the 2024 Greater Los Angeles Homeless Count data and permanent supportive housing is up 18% - an all-time high! 👏 Together with other service providers across LA County, we rehoused a record amount of people through the county's homeless response system. The latest count is additional evidence that a coordinated response to the region’s homeless crisis is working. More resources are needed, so let’s keep it going!
