Meet Morgan Lee and William Bradbury, our 2024 summer associates! Morgan is a rising junior, joining us from Middlebury College through their Innovation Hub. Will is a rising sophomore coming to us from the University of Washington. They are working with our seed venture funds and collaborating with our community members. We're thrilled for them to bring new insights and a dedication to innovation. Stay tuned as we share more about their backgrounds and experiences in an upcoming article next week. ***** The Best ROI = Return on Internships. ****

ROI: Interns make life richer whether hosting on your team, pairing up to companies or launching platforms that connect students with "micro" and "summer" work opportunities. Simply, it just feels great to do for this next generation. Over the last few days, the ROI (Return On Internships) has been awesome to witness for our VCET team and broader community. These little gems include: + An intern from 25 years ago reached out after being CTO or CPO at several leading global tech firms seeking help in starting their own next *BIG* thing. + VCET's two summer associates from Middlebury and University of Washington are now in the house and crushing it. + An MBA Fellow from 16 years ago asked for career advice and within 48 hours was speaking with the CEO of the company of "his dreams". + One MA based intern who had been paired with two Vermont hardware companies over last two summers started ** today ** in a full time engineering role at one of these. #boom + UVM ARC students are in-the-house once again making IP into a business. + Middlebury College Innovation Hub Summer Program kicked off Widewail offices in Hula. This programs places interns all over Burlington area. + Two McGill engineering students from Northern VT are making the next generation of solar cells and working on underwater robots! And on and on, these stories go. Way to go #Vermont for stepping up and focusing on the best ROI. What's your Internship story?

A fun and informative part of last week's inaugural USASBE Rural Entrepreneurship Symposium here at the University of Vermont Grossman School of Business were field trips to local entrepreneurial hubs here in Burlington Vermont. Many thanks to David Bradbury and Nicole Eaton who provided our guests from around the country and the world with such a personable tour, presentation and conversation about VCET's co-working space and start-up seed capital fund. Last week NASA - National Aeronautics and Space Administration announced their SBIR/STTR Phase I awardees, naming 𝐁𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐡𝐦𝐚𝐫𝐤 𝐭𝐨 𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐞𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐟𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐡𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐥𝐲 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐦. 🚀 Benchmark was selected to develop a preliminary design of a hybrid propulsion system inclusive of our flight-proven high-test peroxide (HTP) bipropellant subsystem (Halcyon Avant), advanced control electronics and SmartAIM™ GNC software layer, a partner-supplied electric propulsion system, and other commercial off-the-shelf subsystems. The multi-technology solution will be designed with a standard interface across spacecraft and launch vehicles to enable streamlined integration and standardized operation across any mission set. This award validates the industry’s need for our universal integration approach of heritage propulsion systems and complementary technologies to augment existing solutions. “𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘷𝘢𝘭𝘶𝘦 𝘪𝘯 𝘩𝘢𝘷𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘢𝘯 𝘪𝘯-𝘴𝘱𝘢𝘤𝘦 𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘱𝘶𝘭𝘴𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘭𝘦𝘢𝘥𝘦𝘳 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘮𝘶𝘭𝘵𝘪-𝘵𝘦𝘤𝘩𝘯𝘰𝘭𝘰𝘨𝘺 𝘪𝘯𝘵𝘦𝘨𝘳𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘴, 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘰𝘳𝘣𝘪𝘵 𝘵𝘳𝘢𝘯𝘴𝘧𝘦𝘳 𝘮𝘪𝘴𝘴𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘦𝘹𝘱𝘦𝘳𝘪𝘦𝘯𝘤𝘦 𝘪𝘴 𝘤𝘳𝘪𝘵𝘪𝘤𝘢𝘭 𝘪𝘯 𝘮𝘢𝘹𝘪𝘮𝘪𝘻𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘱𝘢𝘤𝘦 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘦𝘧𝘧𝘪𝘤𝘪𝘦𝘯𝘤𝘺 𝘰𝘧 𝘢 𝘥𝘦𝘱𝘭𝘰𝘺𝘢𝘣𝘭𝘦 𝘴𝘰𝘭𝘶𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘵𝘰 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘴𝘦 𝘭𝘰𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘳𝘢𝘯𝘴𝘧𝘦𝘳 𝘤𝘩𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘦𝘯𝘨𝘦𝘴.
