Harnessing the power of the oceans to remove excess CO₂ from the atmosphere.

About us

Vesta's mission is to further the science of Coastal Carbon Capture and galvanize global deployment. Coastal Carbon Capture harnesses the power of the oceans to accelerate the Earth's natural long-term carbon dioxide removal process and enhance coastal resilience. Vesta is a Public Benefit Corporation, a mission-driven company dedicated to leaving a world in which all can thrive. Part of the funding for our scientific research is from the Coastal Carbon Capture Impact Fund, a 501(c)(3) public charity.

Vesta is proud to announce the successful deployment of our Coastal Carbon Capture pilot project in Duck, North Carolina. We estimate this pilot project will remove approximately 5,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide after accounting for its emissions, and it will be extensively monitored by independent third parties. We are excited to advance the world's understanding of the role olivine sand can play in making coasts more resilient while addressing the root cause of climate change.

We're delighted to be featured in the Wall Street Journal alongside other ocean carbon removal companies. To address the excess of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere, we will need successful, safe, scalable, cost-effective ocean carbon removal. As Ocean Visions recently wrote, "As we confront this reality, our focus needs to be on the biggest opportunities to reach scale, and the ocean must be on the list. Why? The ocean occupies more than 70 percent of the surface area of our planet, is the biggest part of the global carbon cycle, and mCDR pathways don’t require arable land, fresh water, or nutrients in the same way as other forms of CDR." https://lnkd.in/ezDT_qmS
