About us

Founded in 1994, VietAID is the nation’s first and only community development corporation founded and operated by Vietnamese refugees and immigrants and addresses many of the daily challenges that Vietnamese Americans and other low-income Boston residents face. VietAID provides childcare, after school, summer, youth leadership, and literacy programs to improve children’s academic and socio-emotional growth. VietAID also builds affordable housing for low-income families, provides housing counseling services, and promotes grassroots leadership development and civic participation. In 2001, VietAID joined with community members to build a $5.1 million Vietnamese American Community Center as a place for the community to come together and take part in a range of social services and cultural celebrations. VietAID serves over 500 low-income residents in Fields Corner/Dorchester.

  • Celebrate AAPI Heritage Month at the AAPI 5K and support VietAID with our runners, George and Aly!  Through every contribution, the funds support the entirety of our center's programs. VietAID serves as a hub where our community seeks assistance, learns, fosters connections, and so much more. Just as our runners demonstrate strength and resilience, we aspire to embody the same qualities. We invite you to support VietAID by making a donation, accessible through this link: https://shorturl.at/bLPR4 The AAPI 5K will take place May 18th, 2024 at 9:00 am in the Metropolitan District, South Boston. • Thank you to all our wonderful partners and team members who contributed to the renovations of the Âu Cơ Preschool playground! The renovations were crucial for ensuring our playground is safe and engaging for generations to come, where our youngest students can learn and play! We want to express our deep gratitude to the Children's Investment Fund of CEDAC, on behalf of the Massachusetts Department of Early Education and Care for awarding us with this EEOST Capital Fund in 2022. Thanks to our colleagues at KOMPAN, CBA Landscape Architects, and Haven Contracting for helping us complete this project alongside the Children's Investment Fund and our facilities team. We were so happy to have EEC Commissioner Amy Kershaw and the Children's Investment Fund join us at our community center last Friday for the playground's ribbon cutting! We hope that as our children grow, so too does our love for community, and our resolve to make this world a better place for them, and with them. To learn more https://lnkd.in/eyUUG_Ka

  • Recap 5.8.23: Hennigan K-8 Middle School Visit 📚✨ Opening minds, inspiring futures! We had a fantastic time welcoming Ms. McGlone's class from the Hennigan K-8 School to VietAID, where middle schoolers were able to see some of the work we're doing here. As it turns out, our youth coordinator Vina was one of Ms. McGlone's former students and perhaps one day, one of her students will be working at a local organization like ours!! 🌟
