Congratulations to Tali Reiner and Caleb Barber, MBA, CPM®, CAM®, CAPS® for being selected in NAA's Advocacy Academy! We are thrilled to have not only one but TWO WA members represent us in the program. Advocacy is a team sport. Like any team sport, success requires good coaching and advanced training that aims to develop a diverse and deep team bench with the knowledge, capabilities, and team fluidity needed to perform on game day. That’s where NAA’s Advocacy Academy comes into the picture. It invests resources in NAA’s most promising advocates to transform them into superstar advocates with the ability to influence policy decisions on behalf of the rental housing industry. These skills will only become increasingly needed as we advocate for housing legislation across the country!

What does Carter Nelson even do all day? Well, let me tell you. Listen to this 60 second wrap up to hear what’s going on! The WMFHA advocacy team is aaaalll about building relationships because access leads to success. We listen to members, track housing legislation and cheer on champions of our industry. Don’t forget there is a fundraiser for Jim Henderson on the evening of July 24! You can check your voter status at vote.org and the Washington primary is August 6th!

What an incredible week we had at #Apartmentalize. It is hard to articulate the inspiration and motivation that comes from having this many #propertymanagment professionals come together from all around the country. Here are just a few of our OUTSTANDING highlights. * #EmergingLeader Christy Rolfe from Thrive Communities was our #MaintenanceLegend. She was the only female selected. We are SO proud of her! * Two #WMFHA members in 20 in their 20's cohort: Tyler Freed, CAM, CAPS, and Miranda Hekimian! * Sheri Druckman, CAPS was elected as Region 7 Regional Vice President. She will represent the member delegates from WA, Idaho, Oregon, and Nevada. * Greg Cerbana was selected to Co-Chair the 2025 Apartmentalize Conference in Las Vegas. We can't wait to see you there! * We had several #WMFHA members selected to be presenters: Sheri Druckman, CAPS, Brett Waller and Diana Norbury, CPM, CAPS * Nicholas Marin-Kumko and Brett Waller were also selected to join the national Leadership Lyceum. * All THREE of #WMFHAgivesback philanthropic events were featured on the #NAAGives wall! Lastly, Celebrating #Juneteenth with an all-black gospel chorus followed by Leslie Odom, Jr. who shared his story of trying out for RENT at age 17 through his breakthrough role as Aaron Burr in #Hamilton. He then delighted all of us by singing 2 songs. It was something we will never forget. The National Apartment Association (Naahq) Affinity Group Pavilion showcased 6 groups that are organized around a common interest, identity or experience. It was great to see NAA provide a platform for these groups to amplify their voices. The full list of the groups is listed here: https://lnkd.in/gnXG2Ruz Then for the very very last but NOT least, we had so much fun visiting our members on the tradeshow floor. Your booths never cease to amaze! We are so proud of all of our WMFHA members!

It's WMFHA Recap Wednesday, where we highlight all the amazing things that are happening at WMFHA! We had TWO Tapas & Topics last week - at Pinnacle Apartments in Fife and at Vue Apartments in Issaquah. Thank you to Coast Management, Apartment Life, FPI Management, and Tango for sponsoring! We were so privileged to be able to tour Pride Place with the #EmergingLeaders. These incredible experiences showed us how Community Roots and Genpride are building real community within their 55+ LGBTQ+ apartments. Our Fit2Be kickoff was a phenomenal success! Heather Strom with Tarragon has walked an impressive 224,491 steps this past 7 days! Who will beat her record? We celebrated MacKenzie, Molly and Hannah on their WMFHAversaries! The Eastside hosted its 1st Business Exchange! Many Property management professionals and suppliers agreed this format was even better than the west side! We can't wait for this event to return! And we made calls last week to all the finalists for the Emerald Awards!! We will announce all of our finalists tomorrow so make sure to like and follow our social pages to stay up to date!

"I'm sure glad I wore waterproof mascara." A sentiment shared by all when we visited #PridePlace owned by Community Roots Housing. This incredible building in Capitol Hill serves #LGBTQ+ #seniors. Due to a lifetime of discrimination and isolation, this marginalized group is often overlooked. Says Director of Property, Sarah Bramson, "For many of our residents this is the first time they have felt to be their authentic selves in their homes." The tears pooled as we interacted with residents and saw how this was so much more than an apartment building, it was a true community. By partnering with GenPride they provide healthcare, education, hot meals, and so much more. The impact of this incredible project will not soon be forgotten. Says one Emerging Leader, "This was more than a tour - it was a profound exploration of inclusive property management that left a lasting impression." PLEASE help us celebrate Pride by reading this incredible article below. It will help you understand the scope and impact of this incredible community while providing suggestions on how you can get involved. Let's all look for ways we can be more #inclusive and provide dignity to each #resident we serve. https://lnkd.in/gJNMjKgv Jason Loughridge, Sloane Cerbana, Carter Nelson, MacKenzie Knell, Sydney Forsell, Sarah Fassett, Libby Hollan Salazar, CIR, Trey Ascencio, Hannah Smith, Saniya Regmi, CAM, NAAEI Faculty Member, Community Roots Housing, GenPride, Vanessa Konieczki, Devin Chambers Jayren Guillermo
