About us
Founded in 1976, Wine Spectator is the world’s most influential source of wine information, both in print and on the Internet. Wine Spectator editors review more than 11,000 wines each year in blind tastings, and each issue contains from 400 to more than 600 wine reviews with detailed tasting notes and analysis. The magazine sets stringent standards for itself and relies on the proven abilities and experiences of its editors as tasters and critics. WineSpectator.com, launched in October 1996, features more than 400,000 wine ratings, tasting reports, news and features, editors' blogs, videos and other original content you won't find anywhere else. In 1981, Wine Spectator launched its Restaurant Awards program, which recognizes restaurants whose wine lists offer interesting selections, are appropriate to their cuisine and appeal to a wide range of wine lovers. The program reviews restaurant wine lists on three levels: the Award of Excellence, with 2,453 current winners; the Best of Award of Excellence, with 1,215 current winners; and the Grand Award, with 91 current winners. Winners are located in all 50 states and over 75 countries. For more information, please visit www.winespectator.com or follow @WineSpectator on Twitter and Instagram.

#WineNews: For many wine aficionados, sharing a glass or two with someone they love is one of life’s great pleasures. That can be especially true with a spouse or partner. A new study, led by researchers at the University of Michigan and published in February in The Gerontologist, says that couples in which both partners drink moderately tend to live longer. Past research has shown that couples who share similar drinking habits report better quality marriages and stay married longer than couples whose drinking habits are dissimilar. What’s been unclear is whether couples whose drinking habits align also enjoy health benefits associated with that drinking. The new study is the first to link shared drinking habits in couples to longer life and better overall health. Read on! https://lnkd.in/epBMurFv #wine #winespectator #healthstudy

#WineNews: The owners of Carlisle, California’s leading producer of quality Zinfandels, will call it quits after the 2024 vintage. “It was a decision that was a long time in coming,” Mike Officer, 62, said. “Financially, Carlisle is doing wonderfully. It’s just the owners of Carlisle are exhausted. Kendall and I and Jay Maddox, our winemaker—we’re all in our 60s and we all want to retire before we’re 70. Doing business in California and complying with all the idiotic regulations in the states to which we ship have worn us out. We needed an exit strategy.” Read on: https://lnkd.in/eRqcdRHD #winespectator #wine #zinfandel #californiawine #carlislewinery Carlisle Winery & Vineyards

Pianist Jean-Yves Thibaudet shares his journey from Burgundy to Napa, highlighting the deep connections between music and wine. Growing up in a family steeped in music and surrounded by the vineyards of Burgundy, Thibaudet's passion for wine developed early on. Now, as an artistic advisor for the Festival Napa Valley, he blends his love for both worlds. At this year’s festival, he’ll celebrate Gershwin's centenary with a special concert, while the Arts for All Gala, headlined by Lionel Richie, showcases the intersection of artistry and philanthropy.
