What is Qoo10? ✅ A Singaporean-based e-commerce platform that operates localized online marketplaces in Asia. ✅ They strive to provide buyers and sellers a diverse and enjoyable shopping experience. What does this mean for our Wish fans? ✅ We are operating as usual until the transaction closes. ✅ Once all the legal docs have been finalized, Qoo10 will be looking at the best ways to integrate the two companies in a way that benefits Wish merchants and users 💪.     “One of the most dangerous things you can do as a marketplace product manager is assume that what did or didn’t work in the past in a different marketplace is going to behave exactly the same way today in a new marketplace. The world is changing, user behavior is changing, user needs are changing, and value propositions and the way users think about the companies they are interacting with influence the buying decision dramatically.” It was a pleasure to speak with Mauricio Monico of Wish about the evolution of digital marketplaces. Mauricio offered some strategies for increasing the standards of marketplace sellers and discussed the role that friction plays in the customer journey.     Today, Wish reinforced its commitment to consumer protection through the signing of the European Commission’s ‘Consumer Protection Pledge’ in Brussels. The voluntary pledge encompasses both product safety (via the Product Safety Pledge +) and now the Digital Consumer Rights Commitments which address some of the key aspects of consumer rights when shopping online, including: 👉 The transparency of important information and marketing tools, namely consumer reviews and influencer marketing 👉 The role of marketplaces in facilitating the exercise of certain EU consumer rights 👉 Offering training and advice to sellers operating on marketplaces Speaking at the signing ceremony hosted by the European Commission in Brussels today, Wish’s Mauricio Monico said: “The signing of the Consumer Protection Pledge today is testament to our commitment to consumers, and further enhances the work we are doing to build consumer trust and confidence in Wish.   “We thank Commissioner Didier Reynders and the European Commission for their partnership in pushing forward with the voluntary commitments which provide an example for other market participants and constitute an important step towards promoting a general culture of compliance.” https://lnkd.in/df3PF2ig #consumerprotection #digitalfairness4consumers #productsafety #ecommerce
