AI is accelerating the search for non-animal testing alternatives by analyzing global animal testing data, reducing the need for new tests. Systems like ChatGPT are proving effective in extracting and synthesizing data, aiding toxicity assessment and drug development. Despite its promise, AI faces challenges like data bias and regulatory approval. Still, it offers a significant advancement over traditional animal testing methods and may eventually help phase out animal testing altogether. #ai #approachableai

A McGill-led team developed the first real-time, AI-assisted technology capable of detecting nanoplastics in water instantly. This innovation, dubbed "AI-Assisted Nano-DIHM," identifies and differentiates nanoplastics from other particles, offering a revolutionary approach to monitoring plastic pollution. According to lead author Parisa Ariya, this technology can locate pollution "hotspots," enhancing our understanding of plastic pollution's impact on ecosystems.
