Wherever there is a fight so that hungry people may eat, we will be there.
About us
Founded in 2010 by Chef José Andrés, World Central Kitchen (WCK) is a nonprofit organization that is first to the frontlines providing fresh meals in response to crises. Applying our model of quick action, leveraging local resources, and adapting in real time, WCK has served more than 400 million nourishing meals around the world. When disaster strikes, WCK’s Relief Team mobilizes with the urgency of now to start cooking and serving meals to people in need. By partnering with organizations on the ground and activating a network of local restaurants, food trucks, or emergency kitchens, WCK serves comforting meals to survivors of disasters quickly and effectively. To support regional economies, WCK prioritizes purchasing local ingredients to cook with or distribute directly to families in need. We know that good food provides not only nourishment, but also comfort and hope, especially in times of crisis. Learn more at wck.org.

The World Central Kitchen team in Ukraine is safe after our clearly marked armored aid vehicle was struck by a Russian drone equipped with an explosive device near Oleksandrivka. Thankfully, no injuries are reported. Humanitarians should never ever be a target of war. Read our full statement here: https://lnkd.in/ew6ck_kZ

WCK was on the ground in Texas communities hit by Hurricane Beryl within hours of the storm passing. To support families in Sargent and Surfside Beach, where Beryl caused widespread flooding, we are working with longtime food truck partners to provide comforting meals to anyone in need. #ChefsForTexas

Due to increasing travel restrictions as the war escalates, getting humanitarian aid into northern Gaza remains extremely challenging. WCK teams in Madaba, Jordan are working tirelessly to pack pallets full of food and coordinate convoys that are reaching our partners in northern Gaza. We recently dispatched 15 trucks carrying desperately needed supplies to Palestinians in the north. #ChefsForGaza

WCK mobilized across the Caribbean hours after Hurricane Beryl made landfall. Over the past week, we have provided thousands of hot meals and sandwiches, hundreds of cases of water, and as much fresh fruit as we can find to the hardest hit islands. Our teams have been traveling most efficiently by helicopter, but a few choppy, rolling boat rides have helped us get aid to islands too. #ChefsForTheCaribbean

The team at WCK’s Field Kitchen in Khan Younis has steadily increased capacity since cooking its first meals just over a week ago. The cooks at this woman-run, woman-operated kitchen are now preparing more than 5,000 meals daily for displaced Palestinians sheltering in the area. #ChefsForGaza

During "Small But Mighty: How WCK's Locally Led Strategy Helps Feed The World", Relief Team members Fiona and Dan shed light on the complexities we navigate and the significant impact we make when we are the first to the frontlines. Their personal accounts highlighted the power of community and collaboration, values that drive our work. We hope you left feeling inspired by these remarkable stories. WCK’s Relief Team is mobilizing across the Caribbean to reach the islands hit hardest by Hurricane Beryl—the strongest storm to hit the region this early into hurricane season. A team is already in St. Vincent and the Grenadines preparing hundreds of sandwiches that we will distribute as we assess needs across the islands. This is a quickly evolving situation—we’ll share more information as soon as we have it.
