For too long, network discount analyses assessing the difference in average discounts have been the primary tools available to employers to help them evaluate cost disparities between providers – even though this flawed metric provides little real transparency into the actual costs. But with the arrival of machine readable files (MRFs), first for outpatient care and soon for facilities, employers, brokers and benefit consultants will finally have a real alternative that allows them to truly assess price and total cost of care on an “apples to apples” basis. Over their illustrious careers, Annette and Eric have always been at the forefront of innovation, bringing a willingness to be creative and thoughtful when deploying new strategies. Annette has a diverse background spanning the fields of law, finance, and public affairs. With four decades of experience, she has held key leadership positions at prestigious organizations such as General Motors, Honeywell, and The ERISA Industry Committee (ERIC), where she advocated for large employers on critical issues including employee benefits, taxation, and regulatory compliance. In Eric’s over 35 year career as a health strategy consultant with Mercer, he drove significant growth and innovation for large employers. He spearheaded several pioneering initiatives, including Care Focused Purchasing, an early employer/carrier effort to incorporate provider performance into networks. He also led Mercer Marketplace, a comprehensive consulting, brokerage, communication, and administration service and ran Mercer’s East Coast healthcare business. Eric now serves as an independent consultant and advisor. Annette and Eric join our exceptional advisory board which includes Ken Goulet, Seth Friedman, Erik Sossa, Hassan Azar, Kevin Kickhaefer, Amy Cheslock and Lawrence Azerrad.
