According to the 2022 Map the Meal Gap report from Feeding America, which provides a comprehensive assessment of food insecurity nationwide. Approximately 1 in 8 individuals in the Central Florida are confronting hunger, while 1 in 5 children are affected. The summer food program provides free and nutritious meals to children 18 years of age and younger at various locations throughout the county when school is closed for the summer. The 2024 feeding sites, addresses and serving times may be found by visiting summerbreakspot.org.
