LA Libations SoCal Incubation, also known as the SoCal Incubation Program (SIP) - L.A. Libations, is a #beverage incubator and accelerator dedicated to innovative, better-for-you #brands. The program, which leverages LA Libations’ extensive industry relationships and expertise to demonstrate its brands’ market momentum in California, launched version 2.0 in 2023 and is working with dozens of brands to help them become a force in the retail space. Roadmaps for scaling brands normally require between 12 and 18 months. Ventura Foods is a California-based joint venture between CHS and Mitsui & Co. that produces oil-based ingredients and food products for the foodservice industry. Co-owning Ventura Foods directly connects CHS farmer-owners to the food supply chain, says Todd Biedenfeld, director of vegetable oil and sunflower sales with CHS. “CHS has had incredible returns from our soy and canola processing businesses over the last few years and Ventura Foods is a large contributor to that success,” he says. “Rewards to owners traditionally end when we ship out the refined oil and meal from our facilities. When assessing your financial reporting and accounting processes, start by making a checklist of what the organization is currently doing, and what it needs to be doing – e.g. are you following a month-end close procedure, do you have a process for reconciling inventory, do you have the dashboards you need to track KPIs? Evaluate the current state of each process on your list, then outline the expectations for the future state, defining what a successful system will deliver.
