What are the most effective ways for staffing professionals to analyze problems and develop solutions?
In my experience the best way is to listen to your client and ask meaningful questions so that you can get to the root of what they are trying to accomplish. Sometimes just putting a warm body in a chair isn't always what they need. It just may be what they have always done. I want to be a true partner and sometimes that requires thinking outside of the box and coming up with alternative solutions. Similarly, a job description is only a starting point. Factors such as team makeup, company culture, true day-to-day activities and expectations aren't clearly reflected in a job description.

Sales teams are struggling to communicate effectively. What can they do to improve?
Business is as competitive as ever, especially at this time of the year and in this economic environment. You have to provide value, LISTEN (be quiet and stop the immediate sales pitch), be genuine. Buyers work with who they like and who they trust. If you are perceived as just waiting to close the transaction, you will not get anywhere.

How can Emotional Intelligence be used to promote forgiveness and reconciliation?
Emotionally intelligent people are able to understand and identify their emotions. Once you do that, you have the ability to truly consider how you react to certain people and situations that you are confronted with. My grandmother always gave the best advice on this subject. "Baby, holding onto hatred and ill feelings only hurts you. The person that wronged you or hurt you doesn't care or they wouldn't have hurt you in the first place. Just choose to forgive and let it go." I have carried this with me my entire life. You never know what other people are going through that causes them to do or say the things that they do. EI gives you the ability to take those things into consideration.

How can you make your networking efforts more authentic?
For me, being genuine in your approach and curiosity shows people that you really care what they have to say. You aren't there to just close the deal or win the business. I always want to get to know the people I connect with on a personal level. I want to hear about what excites you, what you like to do in your off time as well as what drives you professionally or what challenges you have in your business. I genuinely care about what you have to say about everything, not just about what is going to be a win for me financially. I always feel like I am winning when I can be a listening ear for someone and when I make a genuine connection with the person that I am talking to.
