That equates to about 3x the revenue of the world’s 100 highest- earning companies in 2020. - The U.S. population grew by 24.5 million from 2010 to 2022, and Hispanics accounted for 53% of this increase – a greater share than any other racial or ethnic group. - Women around the world and across all ages drive 64% of consumer spending

Oftentimes there's just a handful of lawyers and paralegals in a partnership, and any piece of technology they can use to give them an edge would be valuable. 44% of negative Google reviews on law firms directly reference poor communication as the reason for a negative experience, and the number 1 reason for Attorney Bar complaints in the U.S. is "lack of communication". On the lawyer's side, attorneys, paralegals and legal assistants spend an average of 7.4 hours per week on unnecessary updates, redundant communication, and activities that aren't directly contributing towards getting a client's case solved. Kudos to Zuck for taking aim at VP titles, the proliferation of which is inversely correlated to how lean a company is and how fast it can move. Hope more CEOs follow in his footsteps. I remember as an operator I was struggling to understand why growth as venture-backed startup became an existential need. As a founder, I was always laser-focused on finding product market fit, retaining customers, and refining my understanding of the ideal customer profile. When we took on capital, there was at first a subtle shift to hitting ARR milestones and celebrating, but eventually ARR became the one and only goal. Now that I sit on the VC side, I reflect on this shift that I went through as a founder.

I recently had an enlightening conversation with Alex Pattis, general partner of Riverside Ventures and author of the #1 VC syndicate newsletter, "Last Money In." Alex's journey from sales director to launching a syndicate that has completed over 300 deals is truly remarkable. He's deployed over $70 million in capital and built a network of thousands of LPs along the way. Many people underestimate the impact of out-of-home (OOH) advertising, especially at the early stage. I’ve seen time and time again how it can be done well. I was reminded of this last week when Canvas Ventures hosted a panel discussion with GTM leaders. Euphonia X. (Brex, Ashby) shared why billboards worked especially well for Brex, when she was joined as the second marketer at the Series B, and why she’s trying it again now at Ashby. In this clip, Euphonia shares how you can figure out if your audience is properly concentrated to ensure effective reach, and how to boost engagement and think about measurement by incorporating a LinkedIn strategy. "I recently did a little bit of testing, kind of like a single billboard situation on the 101. We were able to talk to some pretty crazy big companies that we would otherwise not be able to. Something unique about a billboard is that it is a physical thing. It gives people a feeling that you are trustworthy. So whenever you buy billboards, try to buy premium placement before you do bus stops." I've seen NO ONE read this correctly; the headline is pure clickbait. More GPs are planning to fundraise now (as they say "nearer") than last year. This is the largest YoY jump, instead of not planning another raise. Why? The data here suggests those who pushed a decision further out have decided. • Not decided: from 44% to 27% • No plan to raise: 6% to 13% = 2x increase • Deciding to fundraising now: 4% to 12% = 3x increase https://lnkd.in/gkAC6GGr

As we dive into 2024, the Series A fundraising landscape is becoming increasingly daunting. Investment standards are soaring, and fewer startups are making the cut. Series A investors are finding many seed stage companies too premature. The median valuation jump from seed to Series A skyrocketed from $19.5 million in Q1 2022 to $28.7 million in Q1 2024. Investors now demand stronger revenue performance, targeting $2 million to $3 million in ARR, up from $1 million to $2 million.
