Ewwww google ads audits...you know we love them. This is the "low hanging fruit" type of post for some. For others....opportunity. We tend to see car dealerships have these common pitfalls that drive overall lower campaign performance and lack of traffic. The conversations with dealership leadership starts something like this... "Where are my leads?" "Why am I not getting enough leads?" or something of the sort. Below are common issues that could be choking (literally) your available traffic on Google. Your social media presence should lead your company’s marketing. Yet, if you’re in B2B, there’s an EXCELLENT chance that you’re continuing to rely on reactive methods like SEO and PPC, hoping customers will find you. That isn’t enough anymore. If the competition, starts (or already is) consistently engaging with your potential clients, what do you think the result will be? There is no benefit to remaining silent. It's time to take action.

Remarketing is something EVERYONE is doing…but MOST are just plain bad at it. Here are the top 5 loyalty and remarking mistakes I see: 1. Assuming customers who bought in the past will buy again without your encouragement. Customers often forget. If they buy one product from you, say sneakers, that doesn’t mean they’ll buy a hoodie from you, either. They might not know or remember that you sell hoodies, too. 2. Assuming your past customers think about you often (HINT: They aren’t). You probably need to email more, launch better remarketing ads, and do interesting stuff like send postcards. 3. Not focusing on the most recent remarketing windows. 3-day, 7-day audiences are by far the best. Your 30-day, 60-day, and 90-day audiences can serve a purpose, but they don’t convert as well as your recent audiences. You’re probably wasting money by treating your 30 and 60-day audiences equally to your 3 and 7-day audiences. 4. Using the SAME ADS for remarketing and loyalty as you use for Top of Funnel without testing. If someone has been to your site or purchased before, you usually need a different hook, offer, or angle. Don’t just run the Top of Funnel ads - test new ads! That said, sometimes the ToF ad performs best here. But not often. 5. Not having different ROAS and CPA targets for loyalty and remarketing that you do for ToF. Loyalty should have the highest ROAS, and ToF should have the lowest ROAS. Ideally, you are looking at blended or portfolio performance goals. But expecting your ToF ads to perform like remarketing is crazy. And allowing remarketing to have ROAS similar to ToF is wasteful. Asking your marketing company who the mysterious “leads” were from google ads At this point in technology you should know where your leads are coming from Here are the 3 things you need: 1) A good crm 2) tracking numbers and/or source attribution reporting 3) someone or something to make sure it all works and analyzes it Once you get those 3 things in place, tracking lead sources and roi should be pretty straight forward The problem is… 1) Most people have a crm they barely know how to use 2) Their tracking numbers are a mess and they never look at reporting 3) Their marketing company, office manager, or whatever/whoever else they want to look at the data doesn’t do it These are all things I was facing trying to grow a 3m service business 😬 So what can you do? 1) use your crm better or hire someone to help analyze your data 2) setup and manage your tracking numbers and source attribution properly 3) work with a marketing company that cares about your data and gets in your crm to pull returns Thoughts? My team absolutely crushes SEO for ecommerce brands. The framework we follow includes: 👉 Identifying quick wins: We work quickly to identify keywords with transactional and commercial intent that are already ranking in positions 5-15. We can typically move these within 30 days and drive meaningful traffic and revenue growth. 👉 Identifying competitive gaps: We look at their top online competitors to understand what keywords they are targeting and ranking for that our clients are not. We then work to understand which are transactional and commercial and make sure we’re optimizing for them. 👉 Blowing out keyword lists: Once we have our keyword lists, we work to aggressively expand each list and make sure they are mapped to the correct category and product pages. 👉 Laser-targeted website optimizations: Once we have our target keyword lists, we make sure title tags, meta descriptions, heading tags, images, and copy are properly optimized for the best chance of ranking quickly but also being able to hold those rankings for years to come. 👉 Content expansion: We work to create or expand existing content on category and product pages so we are able to optimize for as many keyword variations as possible. We don’t stuff keywords, but ensure they are strategically placed to look and read naturally. 👉 Link development: No spammy crap here. Best part is, we’re just getting started and they are going to crush Black Friday, Cyber Monday and Q4 in general. We’ve added some capacity and have room for 5 new SEO clients in Q3. Maybe all the folks claiming “X is hard to do” aren’t realizing that’s a cop-out? • “Attribution is hard.” • “SEO is hard.” • “Google Ads are hard.” If it were easy, it wouldn’t be a competitive advantage.
