Spark provides the opportunity for businesses to mentor middle school students at their office. I was assigned to mentor a student each Friday for several weeks right at Red Frog's main offices. Based on the student's interests, I organized each session for the student to join me on various projects to see what event planners do while they are at work. I would also showcase the involvement of other departments so the student could see the full picture of what goes into an event. The student…

Based on the student's interests, I organized each session for the student to join me on various projects to see what event planners do while they are at work. I would also showcase the involvement of other departments so the student could see the full picture of what goes into an event. The student chose what event they'd like to organize for their school at the end of the program and I helped the student bring it to fruition. It was a great experience!

In July 25, 2014, the Presque Isle Lighthouse transitioned from a private residence for park staff to a public building for visitors to learn about the rich maritime history of Presque Isle State Park. I was excited to get involved with the mission of the Presque Isle Lighthouse and help the organization bring a historic experience to our community.
I encourage anyone in the area to climb the steps to the top of the lighthouse and see the beautiful…This is a hometown treasure.
