🚨BREAKING🚨CISA SCENARIO PLANNING WORKSHOP RELEASE 📣📣📣 📯CYBERSECURITY & INFRASTRUCTURE SECURITY AGENCY (CISA) days ago announced a special workshop for critical infrastructure owners/operators. 🔌 CISA IS AN AGENCY within DHS [see comment] and these exercises signify inbound security and resilience risk events. Three scenarios: 1) WATER WOES: as I have posted repeatedly, too much or too little water is our current situation. Water is not where it is needed, in proper quantity. Or, over abundant, such as in Paris. Paris (2024) has an ongoing "orange level" alert. 2) GREAT POWER DISRUPTION: with the advent of AI and crypto-mining, each requiring vast amounts of energy, current grid was not designed for substantial demand. As we see in developing nations, brownouts/blackouts may occur. 3) DAY ZERO: energy system resilience is deservedly called out separately, since the quest for alternative sources adds pressures to the above. Doubtful that wind and solar can provide the output for "4IR" 2030 needs. 📣ONE CITY CALLED OUT as the first that will run out of potable water by year-end. Not some developing nation, this is in the United States of America. ‼️INFRASTRUCTURE SHOULD NEVER be taken for granted. As the threat landscape in modern computing continues to evolve, the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA), in conjunction with several other federal agencies, recently published "Modern Approaches To Network Access Security" to provide updated guidance on best practices regarding network access, including remote access to critical resources. The guidance is directed at all organizations, no matter their size, and focuses on three recommended security solutions, Zero Trust (ZT), Secure Service Edge (SSE), and Secure Access Service Edge (SASE), to enable better visibility to activity and more granular and dependable access controls. As noted in the summary, "this guidance helps organizations to better understand the vulnerabilities, threats, and practices associated with traditional remote access and VPN deployment, as well as the inherent business risk posed to an organization’s network by remote access misconfiguration."
