Managers. Do you have 4+ Scrum Masters and need another one but don’t have a training budget for them? For $150 a month billed annually you can get one of your Scrum Master an average of 10 hours live remote training/coaching a month, 10 more hours of Q&A a month, and the materials to run lunch and learns for the others – they can attend one of the sessions a week for free. I guarantee your 4+ will improve more than enough to handle what another regularly trained Scrum Master will learn.  And, the person in the learning journey will learn the equivalent of Scrum@Scale and how to be a better coach as well. Apologies for being insensitive   I know I’m often talking about how to improve Scrum. Many people interpret this as me saying “Scrum sucks.” I've meant it as "there are better ways to do Scrum." With a little learning and effort it can be adjusted to make it easier and more effective to get the results desired. I call this Amplio Team since it’s technically not Scrum anymore.   My messaging has been intended for practitioners. I’ll admit to being surprised at the reception my messages often get with them. Today, I finally understood why.   I understand why Scrum trainers would take my messages adversely – some say I threaten their livelihood. But I don’t threaten the livelihood of Agile coaches. I’ve always thought they could just adjust how they coached. But this presumes people are willing to change. Many don't see an easy path. And ego is also involved. So change can be scary. I also hear people say, “I am a Scrum Master” or “I am an Agile coach.”   But those are roles, not people. However, people identify with what they do. And saying there are better ways to work feels threatening. So now I understand the reaction. I therefore apologize for unintentionally causing angst. In the future I’ll make it clear you don’t have to give up anything. I’m just trying to create an opportunity for improvement. Few in the Scrum community talk about the things I do. I forget the angst I had when I migrated off Scrum, Kanban, and SAFe for various reasons. The first time I moved from an approach was terrifying. I thought what I had built my company on was no longer as good as it needed to be and that I was not an expert in what I saw as better. But after a few days, I realized I just had to do the best I could and not worry about it. And as I learned, things got better. Each time this happened, it got easier.   We can hold onto our comfort zone, or we can decide to move forward.   With the industry changing, not moving forward is a significant risk. I don’t like to talk about burning platforms to evoke change, but there is little doubt there are a few burning platforms in Agile now—and it’s going to get worse. People sticking to current methods that people are getting disillusioned with are going to find themselves in a stagnant or shrinking market. One that’ll dismiss those with less experience.   But there is an opportunity here. The path to improvement is not as difficult as many leading “authorities” would have you believe. With the physics of flow that I call Amplio Foundations, people can learn faster and leapfrog those with more experience but less understanding. Me personally, I have that skill set, but that would make me a phenomenal leader in any organization. Agile Coach and Scrum Master will not necessarily be independent roles in the near future, but you can use those skills to re-brand yourself as a Transformational Leader. I spoke with an aspiring Scrum Master a few months ago who felt they had done everything possible yet still hadn’t landed a job. I told them, "Change the way you think, and you'll get the right results." Curious, she asked what I meant. I responded, "𝗔𝗺𝗼𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀 𝘆𝗼𝘂'𝘃𝗲 𝗯𝗲𝗲𝗻 𝗱𝗼𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗼 𝗴𝗲𝘁 𝗮 𝗷𝗼𝗯, 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝘀𝗲𝗲𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗵𝗲𝗹𝗽 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗮 𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗼𝗿?" She replied, "I’ve worked as a Scrum Master before, so I don’t need a mentor. I know what I’m doing." 𝗧𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗶𝘀 𝘄𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝗺𝗮𝗻𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝘂𝘀 𝗳𝗮𝗰𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗯𝗶𝗴𝗴𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗴𝗲. We hold on so tightly to our past successes that it prevents us from achieving our next big dream. Every successful person understands that future success requires doing things differently. The reason successful people invest heavily in mentoring is that they understand the key to continuously achieving results is to continuously renew their minds. Your success lies in the coach you’ve refused to invest in. I have created time to talk to a few people who are ready to change the way they think in order to land their first scrum master job. If you're wondering how to measure how successful your Scrum implementation is in your team, there are two things you can do. ⭐ Look at the team satisfaction and the stakeholder satisfaction. How? Feedback. Gather feedback from your team to gauge their morale. Use 1:1s and retrospectives. Gather input from stakeholders to ensure they get what they expect.

Seeking a Technical Project Manager...or perhaps a mythical creature? Some technical project manager job postings seem like they want you to be a full-stack developer, a Scrum master extraordinaire, and a project management savant all rolled into one. "Full-stack ninja" – sure. "Scrum whisperer" – okay, we can work with that. "Design wizard" – alright, a little flair is always nice. But when you add database expertise on top? Now we're entering the realm of mythical creatures. If you can not only code but also navigate sprints, retrospectives, and burndown charts like a pro, we need to talk.
