“Jon lives and breathes JavaScript and frontend/web technologies. He inhales tweets and tech blogs, knows all the latest projects on Github and, most importantly, knows which ones are applicable to the problems his engineering team is facing. After a couple years building frontend applications at Coursera, Jon was looking for a new challenge. So, we created a role for him as the founding member of the frontend infrastructure team. Jon and the team helped engineers push through an epic technology migration to React, webpack and server-side rendering, all tied together with modern, immutable deployment tooling that empowers engineers to ship 30-40 changes to production every day. In addition to his engineering accomplishments, Jon has had a big impact on company culture. Most notably, he conceived and launched Coursera’s Make-a-thon, a bi-annual event that gives everyone in the company the opportunity to make, innovate and engage with each other. He also a huge proponent of the Tuesday night “beer club” and diversity hiring. Jon is an amazing startup engineer through and through and I’m certain he’ll achieve great things in his career.”
