The purpose of this chapter is to explore through the eyes of a nation, its corporation’s leaders, and its citizens, the risks and opportunities of climate change, and its mitigation to ensure national long-term resilience and success in sustaining reputation. This chapter considers how a Nation and its Society can demonstrate their climate resilience, through being reflective, robust, forward-thinking, flexible, resourceful, inclusive, and integrated. It explores a number of the drivers behind the deference to Western societies, which was the norm in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, and considers growing respect and admiration for East Asian ones and if this could thus mark the start of the Asian century.

Chapter on the Future of Governance chapter in the new book Wow - How did you know that by Coauthors Janson Yap and Nelson Nones, who have adopted a pragmatic approach in which both theory and practice of risk intelligence are applied in different contexts and different environments. The central message of this book is one of hope, in that when risks are mitigated, successful outcomes are maximised. This book defines, explores and encourages a Risk Intelligent mindset. Risk Intelligence, as opposed to conventional risk management, is about the shifts in how risks need to be viewed, managed and mitigated in a new world that is more complex and uncertain. Other contributors included Seow Shi Loh, Professor Bin Ke, Kelvin Leong and Singaporean Olympian Derek Wong.
