You’re a Marketing Analytics team leader. How do you make sure your team is equipped for success?
The highest priority of a marketing analytics leader should not be build reports or analyzing data. Instead, he/she should focus on adoption. A great analysis has no benefit if people don’t use it. I’ve often seen teams create hundreds of dashboards and analysis only to shelf it. As a leader, your role is to drive adoption. This leads to more data driven decisions and less of “I’m right, let’s go with my view” conversations.

What do you do if your marketing data analysis is hindered by conflicts?
Ofc you need to identify issues but how can you make that process consistent? Because conflicts are recurring and automating the monitoring process is the real solution. One can do that by building a simple rule engine with if/else conditions and setting up email notifications to fix those issues before it’s too late. Don’t go find problems, make problems find you instead.

What are the challenges of scaling marketing automation across channels?
I have scaled marketing automation to send 50 million emails/year, generate around 25,000/year, and work with more than 10 marketing tools. Here's what worked: 1. Have a Command Center: You need one single source of truth. When juggling multiple tools, you find it hard to see what works and what does not. All KPIs, input, and out metrics must be present here. 2. Set up Checkpoints: Cover your blindspots. 7 out of 10 times, things break. You need to find and fix them before it's too late. 3. Experiment Small, Execute Big: Always start small. This allows you to test multiple processes without any disruptions. 4. Build your Playbook: Once it starts working, document it—every single detail. Make sure you update your playbooks regularly.

What are some effective ways to share knowledge with marketing operations professionals and communities?
One thing I have found extremely helpful is closed-room working sessions. This could be virtual as well. For example, I've been a part of communities where everyone posts their challenges, and if more than 5 people share the problem, we get on a zoom session, and the person who has solved that particular problem helps others solve it real-time. This, roll up your sleeves and get it done approach does wonders because you actually get the job done and also become a expert.
