This includes management of material grinding, wash lines, beverage destruction, laboratory testing, wastewater treatment, mechanics & technicians, shipping and receiving, inventory control general staffing, training, facilities, EH&S, stormwater, and other items.

Work with a diversity of product lines including multiple polymers, aluminum, cardboard, and reusable boxes. Our processed plastics include ground, washed, custom-blended, thermoform, pre-form, resin, etc. The materials I prepare are also used in our own thermoform manufacturing or sold to others at any point or in any form along the process.

My work has directly improved production volume, product quality, equipment reliability and consistency. This is a result of key production line re-designs, new equipment installations, equipment repairs, new maintenance programs, staffing, technical support, resource planning and oversight improvements.

Creation of new production planning models that allow us to forecast better and react to changes in customer needs or other unplanned issues that may arise.

Reduced waste and liability associated with stored finished product and raw material held in inventory.

Participate in research, testing, and planning to bolster the company’s capabilities surrounding recycling of plastics including post-consumer thermoforms.

Use network of contacts to bring both sellers and buyers of plastic feedstocks to the company.

Supply dynamic leadership to maintain essential and effective production given volatile labor, feedstock and other uncertainties throughout COVID-19 pandemic and ongoing recovery.

General management of a multi-department business-unit operating and supporting recycling centers throughout California. Think of recycling as reverse distribution or collections. Responsibilities include creation and execution of annual operating budget and annual capital budget.

I was promoted to this position to turnaround the company's operations and prepare for growth. With a team that I reformulated and refocused we generated double-digit same-store sales improvements and won key new accounts. Also, we acquired and integrated our largest competitor.

Take the company from 30% to 50% market-share, boosted sales and created the largest recycling company in the state of California with over 650 locations. Execute nearly 1-million consumer recycling transactions per-month, supply compliance services to nearly every major retail grocer in the state and ship over a hundred thousand tons of recycled products to downstream processes and end markets annually.

Improved staffing respective to recruiting, quality of employees, correct quantity of employees and a reduction in turnover of 35%. Improve work schedules for customer service as observed by a virtual elimination of certain customer complaints.

Provide resource planning for and technical guidance to a cross-functional team supporting a new point of purchase / point of sale system for our recycling centers. Source, customize and deploy compaction equipment to reduce transportation expenses by two-thirds and simultaneously improve working conditions.

Manage corporate health and safety program for sustained reductions of both quantity and severity of accidents within a known difficult industry. Most recent 12-month period shows a 14% improvement in payroll-hours between injuries and 32% reduction in overall indemnity claims.

Also, manage training programs to generate productivity improvements for both new and existing employees.

Develop and execute annual Marketing plans while contributing extensively to overall competitive business strategy. Analyze market data plus feedback from employees and customers to set product pricing to promote revenue, manage cost of sales (COS) and gross margin for our recycling centers.

Led a team of Business Development managers who were responsible to source and manage new recycling center contracts from supermarkets and other channels. With this team I also worked on various municipal permitting and licensing projects. Further, I utilized both public-relations and public-affairs consultants to bolster effectiveness.

Established a team of customer service representatives, implemented issue tracking software and developed a new consumer website all to enhance customer engagement. This includes sourcing, customization and integration of systems to capture, track and report on key customer statistics.

Developed and managed program to partner with non-profit organizations who then promoted use of the company’s services among their membership groups and beyond. This included development of multiple fundraising websites, online videos and social media campaigns. It was an especially good platform for generating ongoing favorable traditional media coverage even arranging coverage on on the local news.
