As we conclude our Stevens Institute of Technology EMBA spring semester course "Leading Across Projects” Here are the main takeaways for bringing changes to the organization. Kotter's 8-Step Model for Change is like a roadmap for organizations going through substantial changes. It breaks down the process into simple steps that make a big transformation feel more manageable. First, you must get everyone on board by showing them why the change is urgent. Then, you gather a team of influential people who can lead the way. Once you have them, you create a clear vision of what the change will look like, making sure everyone knows where they are headed. Communication is key, so you make sure everyone understands the vision and why it is important. Along the way, you tackle any problems that pop up, making it easier for the change to happen smoothly. Celebrating small wins is important, too. It keeps everyone motivated and shows that progress is being made. And as you keep moving forward, you build on those wins, making more changes until you reach your final goal. The most important thing is to make sure the changes stick. You want them to become part of how things are done every day. That way, the organization can keep growing and adapting to whatever comes its way. All the changes are nothing but human engineering. To be a change agent, you need to have the self-awareness, to know your emotions, your strengths, and weaknesses. Leadership is nothing other than influencing others. Art of persuasion, storytelling, networking, multiple techniques to spanning boundaries and coaching are the tools we can use to increase your influence to bring the change you want. Being an authentic leader will help you to get the required buy-in from your team and stakeholders to accelerate the change.
