#powerbi #powerquery question for the group: I have some 10 views sitting in Snowflake that I'm bringing into a model. When I connect to the views through a dataflow and then into my PBIX I get a file size of ~175mb. When I connect to the Snowflake views directly through the PBIX I get a file size of >260mb. My thought/hope was that I'm cutting down on refresh latency by cutting out the "middle man" of a dataflow, but considering I'm not done adding tables I want to control bloat on my file size, too. Why is there such a significant difference in the two methods? Alex Powers or Brian Julius I feel like you two might be able to at least point me in the right direction? 🔎 🤞

FP&A knows they need to learn real data analysis, but doesn't know where to start. Most modern #fpa teams I talk to want to advance, but think they're stuck with what is installed on their computer. They simply don't know the data landscape. One tool for teams that want to get super technical that I HIGHLY recommend is Hex. It's SO SOLID for data science level analysis. Don't believe me? After a few weeks of development v1.0 of my Colour Manager for Tableau is available! If you worked with custom palettes before you know how annoying it can be to deal with XML. If you haven't used custom palettes, this might actually be the reason. This little tool lets you edit and manage your custom palettes without the need to ever look at XML. You can add, remove, reorder, rename, and a lot more. I'll admit, I've been bored with a lot of data content recently. A big reason why is that a lot of it has a real doom-and-gloom flavor. There are many folks out there who genuinely fear their job is at risk, whether from layoffs or gen AI automating them away, and that fear is fed by declarations that tons of jobs (data or otherwise) were zero interest rate phenomena. It’s pertinent if trite to say that the internet doesn’t reward subtle or measured takes on anything. Technological advancement has a way of collapsing distinctions between roles, and what feels like the core of a job today could very easily be a vendor or framework used by some other role tomorrow. But I just don't believe that "data" is a simple enough set of skills that it will ever be completely eliminated at all companies, much in the way that programmatic advertising didn't eliminate the need for marketing teams. https://lnkd.in/gWq_PV2e
