An interesting point of view in this article. In the recent Econmist Impact study https://buff.ly/45TNmcc into procurement its interesting to see the continued importance of category management in procurements digital transformation agenda, it has been in the top 3 or 4 areas that drive digital transformation for the last 3 years. One of the findings over this time has been the need to increase digitisation in the category management process, a finding that each of the over 400 CPO identified as a primary way to improve Category Management via technology. The automation of process will then allow the concentration on methods other than simple sourcing programs as the execution arm of categiory strategies.
