About
I use mixed methods research to lead, conduct, and develop evidence-based community-engaged projects that aim to enhance the health and well-being of older adults, especially those from underserved and underrepresented groups. I have expertise in qualitative research methodologies, including one-on-one interviews, moderating focus groups, observation, and ethnographic research. I have a proven track record of translating complex research data into strategic and actionable insights, particularly across diverse cultural contexts. I am skilled in collaborative stakeholder engagement, including establishing community and academic partnerships and integrating multiple perspectives to inform user-centric and person-centered solutions to address health inequities. I also work closely with the marketing team to create reports and research briefs that can reach various audiences.
I have over twelve years of experience researching the social and structural determinants of health, health promotion and prevention practices and behaviors, informal care and support exchanges, Alzheimer's disease and related dementias, immigration and acculturation, and asset-based approaches to community development.
I hold a PhD in Sociology from the University of Victoria, where I received multiple scholarships and awards for my academic excellence and research contributions. I have published extensively in peer-reviewed journals and presented at national and international conferences. I am also a member of the Board of Directors at the South Asian Public Health Association (SAPHA), where I advocate for the health needs and interests of South Asian Americans. In addition, I am an Adjunct Professor at Lewis University, where I teach courses on diversity and social justice in the sociology department.
I am skilled at data analysis software such as SPSS and NVivo and survey software including SurveyMonkey, Verint, and Qualtrics. I am fluent in English, Hindi, and Urdu.
Through my research, I strive to ensure that everyone receives the care and attention they deserve, regardless of socioeconomic status, race, ethnicity, or cultural background.
