Make sure that every person in the team knows what is expected of his/her job, and what are the goals of the whole group. Don't confuse with micro management. 4. No matter the size of the team, make sure to take care of your people.

Great crew coordination is one of the basis to achieve a successful production. These are 4 best practices that I've learned and could help you when it comes to crew coordination. 1. Over communicate, make sure that everybody has the required information before, during, and after the show. 2. Think about the needs of your crew first. Parking, food, water, credentials, etc. Make them a priority. 3. Use simple channels to pass the required information. If your crew is used to WhatsApp, meet them there. 4. If you are working with freelancers, take time to inform them well about the process to be paid. This coordinating is key for them to get their money and to come back to work with you in the future.

The number one thing I have learned about video production throughout my career is the importance of communication. Ours is a team business, and the flow of the information between the different members of the crew is crucial. From the small productions to the biggest shows, every person must know what is required from her/him. A misunderstanding, a lack of information, or an omission, could create a problem. One issue that could be easily avoided by making sure that everybody knows what they need to do. In the end, over communication is vital to guarantee the success of your production and it should never be overseen. Never assume, communicate.

Unless your event demands low latency as a condition, don’t force it. You can find a great combination between bandwidth and latency that will allow you to have a more reliable stream. Check the specifications of the encoders and platform you are using to get the best use of your allocated bandwidth. Make sure you have bundled connectivity so you won’t have to relay on a single failure point. Get Ethernet, SIM cards, satellite internet and configure those 3 to have the required redundancy. This would be helpful if you need to deliver your event with low latency.

What you can put on a paper or cool video can never match the impact that a great opinion and feedback about your work can produce. Make sure that in every job you do you put people first. Your technical skills are crucial, but nobody will want to hire a jerk. If you work hard, show up, put your best effort, and treat your peers with respect, be sure that your next job could come from those willing to give a reference. Remember, your portfolio is just as good as the references that people are willing to give about you.
