The WHO prequalified a single-dose oral cholera vaccine (OCV). Cholera outbreaks are active in conflict zones that have caused population displacement into crowded camps that lack clean water and sanitation. Several African countries and Haiti are experiencing outbreaks, resulting in increasing rapid spreading and deaths. In response to the escalating fighting in North Darfur, Sudan, Médecins Sans Frontières / MSF has treated over 100 war-wounded patients – including 11 children, many with gunshot wounds – at South Hospital, El Fasher, over the past two weeks. Following the devastating results of a rapid nutrition and mortality assessment conducted by Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) in early January, a mass screening of more than 63,000 children under-five, as well as pregnant and breastfeeding women, was conducted in March and April. The results confirm that there is a catastrophic and life-threatening malnutrition crisis in Zamzam camp, North Darfur. Women and girls facing the need for abortion at advanced gestational ages encounter numerous barriers to safe services. Restrictive laws and a shortage of trained providers exacerbate the stigma and health risks associated with unsafe abortions. FIGO's recent statement on Brazil's prohibition of fetal asystole induction highlights the urgent need to uphold access to safe abortion services, even in later stages of pregnancy. In May 2022, during the 75th World Health Assembly in Geneva, WHO Member States unanimously approved the Intersectoral Global Action Plan (IGAP) for Epilepsy. This comprehensive plan aims to close care gaps and enhance services for individuals with epilepsy and other neurological disorders globally. Thanks to the advocacy efforts of IBE and ILAE, the plan includes the 90-80-70 cascade target, set to improve care for over 50 million people living with epilepsy. To achieve these global objectives, IGAP recommends actions for WHO Member States, the WHO Secretariat, and both national and international partners, focusing on key areas such as access to epilepsy services. Despite 70% of people with epilepsy being able to live seizure-free with proper treatment, significant treatment gaps persist worldwide—75% in lower-income countries and even higher in rural areas. #EpilepsyAwareness #IGAPEpilepsy #GlobalHealth #CareEpilepsy
